MAT Finance Software

Does anyone have any issues with the following software? We are just in the process of looking at MAT Finance software:

 

Sage 200 Online (Education)

PS Financials

FMS Multiview (Capita)

We use SAGE with out MAT. Support wise its much better than the other 2.

My governor MAT uses PS Financials (FMS multi view wasn't around when we converted and we needed the ability to cover all schools)

 

The Finance Director considered Sage but concluded that it didn't give the reporting that she needed.

 

I am a Sage support fan; they're fantastic. We used it at my independent school. However, the needs of a standalone independent are different to that of a MAT

We are on PFS here. Support can be annoying sometimes but the product is great. FMS was and still is awful imo

Echo what @nathan said - we're on PSF and support can sometimes be testing - also charges for additional modules are at a corporate level and there is sometimes little realisation of how much these modules would be used and how the charging could be dealt with differently (like multi-locations, 1 secondary, 4 primary, all charged same amount for automated reporting). However, saying that, the software is very effective and flexible (within the defined realms of a financial system) and they do have some excellent consultants (one of them answered emails as I did an upgrade the the latest version of software on a bank holiday last year)

I'd like to throw Civica Corero into your mix. It's easy to support, easy to install MAT compliant and not super expensive. To me the only downside is that it's GUI is an eyebleeding shade of yellow.

We are using the Cloud based version of PSF and find it slow occasionally via the web interface often. There are some interesting glitches with using the Terminal Services (MSTSC) remote desktop version.

 

Also our Bursar finds it a lot less handholdy than FMS6 and CMIS Facility (which we previously used)

We've found support to be fairly poor from Civica sadly. Hours to get back to us and they don't always read the info you send. We're using the core package, but also the web package for our MAT primaries. We've found the web system to have a number of issues, and then we've found out it's a new product which wasn't fully explained in the sales pitch. The web package isn't even secure until you put the time and effort in your self - civica won't support ssl :-(

PSF isn't software; its a load of buggy code thrown together with sharepoint to which they attach a huge pricetag. We're almost a year on and support are still dialing into the server on a regular basis to fix something. Never mind the awful UI and usability which aren't even classified as bugs. Causes our finance team no end of extra work. Worst decision ever.

We have switched to this from September. Works really well.

@Meldrew - not sure what you're using - there's no sharepoint involved in PSF... they can be expensive, but we don't see any real issues - what are they having to dial in for?
