If I had to deploy out a class set of iPADS.....and money was no object.

What's the best MDM solution out there and can anyone recommend anyone who can install and train us up on it's use?

Also to go with your MDM have a look at https://www.groundctl.com/

GroundControl is basically AppleConfigurator2 but in the cloud (and it actually works)

Been running it hear in combination with our MDM and it makes re-imaging and deployments a fully non touch automated process done in a fraction it took use with AppleConfigurator.

It depends what you really want. Most of the top MDM's do the same thing. We use Casper at it can also handle MAC imaging and policies but is also one of the most expensive. There are other MDM's like Airwatch and Meraki which are very good.

Why on earch would you buy another piece of software when you can sign up for DEP for free and get a wireless supervised profile from your MDM upon activation of the iPad...

For zero touch deployments, that are not possible with DEP. Quickly reset shared class sets of iPads without having to click trough menus and manually enter information. E.g. Wifi, iTunes account...

AC2 and Meraki.

@Arreks

Thanks.

I've upgraded our MAC and installed AC2.1 and have created a Meraki account and a new "network" called Geography.

I've also got a VPP login created and linked to Meraki.

Could you briefly outline the process you use to set up each new iPad?

I'm struggling a bit...

I keep changing our process cause sometimes things work and sometimes things don't if I try and make the process quicker lol.

Currently the process is as follows, if I have a bunch of iPads:

1) Get a USB hub (decent one) and plug in all the iPads to a Mac with configurator installed.

2) Deploy - profile with wireless settings, org settings, printers etc - you can also set up a base backup with some apps installed then restore from that during this process if you don't want to rely on VPP or Meraki for everything.

3) Provide an enrollment URL for the deploy process to enroll the devices and make sure to supervise.

Anyone know how to configure AC2 to enroll iPads onto Meraki automatically? More specifically, how to configure AC2 with which Meraki URL?

Under the 'Setup' section of AC2, you can provide a MDM URL - look under the "Add Clients" page on Meraki dashboard and scroll right down to the bottom. There should be two URL's, one for 1.5+ and one for 2.0+

Also, testing here with AC2 was going well, until I created an iPad back and added it to my BluePrint!

and I can't see how to stop the BluePrint from applying the backup each time I push the BP to a new iPad.

Any ideas?

Also I have a profile that joins to our wi-fi but it still bring the wi-fi choosing screen up when the iPad turns on, so you have to click Next and then click to Agree to terms and conditions - how can I stop both of these?

Thanks

Is it possible to restrict users of the iPads so they cannot change the date or time?

Before students do this!

You can't as far as I know, Apple limitation. Kids can still set alarms and I haven't found a way to stop that..

You can't, when you're first setting up the iPad with a profile you'll have to click next and then "apply configuration" usually..
