kennysarmy Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 I've been asked to advise/help a primary school who have 8 iPads and are struggling in how to get images off them for later use on their suite of PC's. They have been trying to use dropbox, but from what I can gather they only have ONE account, which all students and teachers use, so there is no security - ie. a teacher creates a folder on dropbox to store items in are viewable by the students! Is there a way to use dropbox more securely? or are there better apps/products to simply sync. or copy images wirelessly from iPads' to PC's. Presently they don't have a server/client network but are hoping to invest in one in the next 6 months. Any advise I can pass on greatly appreciated.
Blue_Cookeh Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 How many pictures are they uploading? We give them two options, the teachers can use the Synology app to upload to our NAS, or they can simply e-mail from the iPads to their own accounts. The iPads have generic Office365 accounts which cannot send mail externally.
PrimaryNetMan Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 Take a look at Video Transfer https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/video-transfer-photo-video/id640087629?mt=8 Open a browser on a machine, browse to the IP address of the iPad and download a hand zip file. Free version is limited to certain number of files at a time but is quick and easy.
NB9457 Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 We use file explorer, with an account setup with permissions to access an iPad share only. In the share, we put a folder for each year group, then they choose the pics they want, upload them to the share and they can then see that share on their machine. Have to set each iPad up, but if it's only 8, it'll take you no time at all.
kennysarmy Posted February 11, 2016 Author Posted February 11, 2016 Thanks for all the replies - I'll liaise back with the school and ensure I've got the right end of the stick
