Hello all,

We are currently looking into rolling out Windows 10 in one of our learning centres, primarily for the use of certain Windows 10 apps.

Is there a way to roll out free Windows 10 apps without the windows store itself installed and without using any microsoft credentials? the pupils will be logged into our active directory only. I understand that we can do this if we use sideloading which is supported by Windows 10 Enterprise, but only if we made the apps ourselves.

I am pretty sure the answer is no, but I was just wondering if I had missed something.

Many thanks!

Just came across the same problem, trying to give some surfaces to staff but can't install any apps without a Microsoft ID. Microsoft seem to treat Office 365 accounts differently from Microsoft ID's, so they cant use their school email account. It would seem Microsoft are a few years behind Apple in mobile deployment??

I'm also looking in to this, got some Windows 10 laptops and the maths department want to use a Windows store app but they have to install it every time a user logs on from the Windows Store with a Microsoft ID. Hoping for a solution

As long as the developer has allowed their app to be offline-licensed you should be able to download the .appx(s) from the Windows Store for Business and sideload it with DISM or the equivalent PowerShell command.

Hi there,

I've come across that first article before. Now this is probably because I've not really used MDT before as I've always used WDS, but it seems like there's part of that tutorial that maybe doesn't go into as much detail as it could (see attached).

How do I get the Windows Deployment Wizard to run on a client workstation - is it part of SCCM? Can it be scripted in any way?

In reply to the OP, the answer I've got from Microsoft was 'not without a third party MDM tool' - though this link and other search results seem to imply that there are ways of achieving what you describe.

Cheers!

the deployment wizard runs when you call it up usually by pxe booting the pc (instead of the wds menu where you select your image) and is there for reimaging so if you just want to add say myapp its not the way to go for that you would be better writing a powershell startup/shutdown script
