Hi, Looking for suggestions/examples on the proper way to share information on students with ALN between all stakeholders (ie parents/carers, NHS teams, Local authorities). At the moment information is sent via email as a password protected attachment. I'm guessing some sort of web platform with mfa? Thoughts welcome!

Hi Hope everyone is safe and well Does anyone have any info on adding additional next of kin contacts for staff? We've got a scenario where apparently the next of kin and the emergency contact are different people. SIMS will only let you add one. Any more suitable location before I add a UDF?

Hi I've managed to get it down to just the following animation: ...which is literally two clicks, so not a huge inconvenience, but one I'd rather do away with. Has anyone worked out how to do away with the first run animation altogether? Also - I've had a read through this thread, is there anything else GPO-wise that needs locking down? Currently just setting home/startup/new tab pages and setting the search engine to google. Thanks!

Hi I have a very similar issue but I'm using login.microsoftonline as the third-party IdP in Chrome Management, so everyone can sign into Chrome devices/GSuite using their Office 365 credentials. We have Smoothwall provided by our LA but have no administrative control over it, and our current workaround involves authenticating and completing the log-in process on a 'public' SSID (on which I can assume no or very limited SSL inspection takes place) before the user can manually join the curriculum SSID. Given that this configuration is supported by google, and as you say fairly commonplace, shouldn't Smoothwall/Netsweeper support this somehow? I don't have a support account with Smoothwall so cannot verify!

Ideal scenario: An app/cloud service for managing video evidence. Upload a list of students from CSV. Video evidence using device camera straight into app, associated with students name (in a folder) and transferred to cloud. No video evidence is stored on device, transferred to cloud as soon as there's wifi. All folders can be exported to onedrive/google drive Does anything like this exist? I've found this but it doesn't seem to exist any more. Problem - we can buy the greatest video camera in the world but teachers will still have to spend countless hours sorting/editing and renaming footage to be submitted for assessment. I'm grateful that we don't have to touch it but there must be an easier way!

Ableton is a far more versatile and relevant piece of software than Cubase is nowadays. It's pretty much an instrument in itself for live performances (though you'll want the full/standard version for the looping feature, more tracks and instruments/plugins). Pretty much industry standard in a live context. Way better experience for students than prodding around in Cubase. Factor in its ability to work with video and the way it's designed to keep running even if your PC crashes...

There seems to have been an update to SSM overnight which has sorted some people's issues (those still on Autumn release) over on MyAccount. However we are getting a 503 error in Intouch - Service Setup on client machines. From the SIMS server itself it's fine. Assuming this is a config error but where? I've got no firewalls or anything in the way, this issue appeared out of the blue yesterday morning. Ticket open with capita but they haven't responded yet and I need to get it sorted asap.

SDS doesn't do calendars on its own. For that - the short answer is get a paid product (Salamander/Ruler full versions).

I would agree that the 'end of school year' scenario needs further development. It's not ideal for KS4 or where projects stretch over two school years - especially at scale. I kept our expired classes active but hidden until pretty much this week just in case anyone needed anything but had briefed those who I knew would ask, and got them to migrate work/sections to the new Team/Notebook. In some cases the more able students could manage this themselves. If student's work (looking at the owner/creator attribute) could follow them somehow to new Teams, or default to their OneDrive when a team is expired that may be a better solution.

My advice would be don't focus on the device or the product, focus on the processes and spend more time working with the people and the platforms. That way, whatever investment you make won't be 'flash in the pan' I'm of the opinion that iPads are ten times more pan flashy than chromebooks, but it's been a few years since I was at primary level.

Some background: - We have trusted authentication set up to allow users to sign into Google resources (Apps and chromebooks) using their Office 365 identity. - Our Local authority manages all of our wireless SSIDs and Internet provision which includes Smoothwall. - We have a public (no authentication) SSID and an 802.1x SSID The sign in process works fine on the Public SSID, which doesn't require any certificates. With the 802.1x SSID, devices connect to the network but do not reach the login.microsoftonline sign-in page, eventually timing out with NET:ERR_CERT_AUTHORITY_INVALID Question: Am I right in thinking that that Multiple Sign-in will be disabled because Smoothwall with have SSL inspection on? Is there a way around this if so? Does anyone have a similar configuration that can provide some more information? Many Thanks!

So this looks to have been an issue with the image as you may have guessed! Re-did the image and it seems to be deploying fine with the unattend.xml. Hope this helps someone!

Hi Bit puzzled by this one, it's probably something I've missed. Server 2012 R2 WDS Deploying a Win 10 1803 Edu image MS have added a ton of daft questions to the Windows Setup - so I'm hoping to skip it entirely as the local administrator settings, locale, input keyboards, protection settings will be the same for every machine we build. unattend.xml here: sanitised_unattend.txt I've used the same process for Enterprise and it's working fine - PXE boot, admin username/password, select image, set partition options, build > reboot > skips OOBE and straight to local admin login. This is the error I get: Hit next and it reboots to the same screen. Any advice? The image deploys fine without the unattend.xml but I have a fair few machines to build and would rather spend the time automating! Ta x

I'm having this exact issue on a Server Core installation. I can't access the site via IIS Remote Manager - I go to add the remote server and it's unable to connect. Can I increase the memory limit using powershell/command line? ...or does anyone have any idea why I can't connect using remote IIS to a machine with default WSUS configuration!? Thanks

Basically as much integration as possible - hence why I started looking at Sharepoint. At a very basic level - a 'helpdesk@ourdomain' email identity to make submitting tickets as easy as possible for the end users. A portal that the user can log into (using existing 365/azure id) to check the status/respond to open tickets. At agent level, integration with outlook calendars and tasks. Our ICT inventory and Wiki is stored in a combination of o365 sites and services, so would be good to get these in the mix as well.

How did you find the setup/integration with existing systems (ie 365/azure) assuming you're self-hosted? We don't really have a public facing webserver here - this may be an issue!

I've looked into Spiceworks a few times previously but never gone for it - it's either too much or not enough. In this case: - Limited (ie none) integration with Azure/Office 365 (only local AD) - As mentioned, no option to have a ticket submitted only to one team - tickets submitted by email have to go to [email protected] - so i'd have to put a rule in to get around this. - seems to be lacking in escalation - ie all tickets are initially assigned to T1 support, escalated to T2 if T1 can't close etc If you're using it and have ways around this, let me know!
