I haven't used Ecablox but i had a demo look at one.

They do look amazing. Ring milgate and speak to Ross. He can get you a 30 day trial on one :)

I've had my webinar, they look really interesting, but at the moment they aren't designed to be what I need - I need primary storage connected via iSCSI or Fibrechannel and these are SMB connected. They'll be ideal for my backup project next year, but right now, not what I'm looking for.

I checked out the alpha interactive screens at BETT. Seemed nice. Really responsive. The pricing is very competitive too (well, from 'alphaproducts' themselves). If you want any of the contact deets I got a business card (y)

we replaced all our server infrastructure last year and went with all fujitsu kit. See items below. The kit has been great no issues, we haven't used it with storages spaces as were are fully VMWare (Fibre Channel). Would definitely purchase fujitsu again.

Fujitsu RX200 S8 1U Rack Server x3

Fujitsu Eternus DX60 S3 x2

Got two AlphaInteractive screens in one of my schools. They are pretty nice, nice and responsive. One teacher moans that sometimes the Android option comes on instead of the computers output. The other teacher with the exact same model has no such issue. It's a PICNIC (problem in chair, not in computer) issue.

Thanks - What does the android media player actually bring to the party? I'd be tempted to spec without it.

Presumably it's an implementation of android which would mean you could have O365 or Google Apps available without a PC connected, plus screen mirroring and the wonderful world of Google play

That's correct but we've never used it like that. I wouldn't bother with it unless your staff will actually use it. Things to consider with these displays are viewing angles and size difference, from a large IWB. The software they are shipped with is a a bit like smart notebook, it can also open and modify smart notebook and activinspire.

At the moment we have ancient SB580 boards and I suspect we would be looking for the biggest possible versions.

I don't think the media player would be useful, almost all rooms will have static PCs in them by the time we get to actually completing this project!

The software looks like a big plus to me as we have invested a significant amount in Notebook format resources, not being able to use them without a Smarttech licence fee would be a real problem to us!

I'm think i remember them saying if you ask they can bring a board in on a stand to demo it? May have made that up though. The software is pretty nice and works well with the board. One to note, we used to have ActivInspire on the laptops as we had Promethean boards. Now, some staff want to carry on using ActivInspire, but sometimes the software picks up the pen as the select tool only. It's really frustrating, not manged to find time to find a solution for that yet. Perhaps a software update will do it. I know you said you were a Smart School but just thought i'd mention it.

Thankyou. I will investigate this with SLT. They have said they want to upgrade all of our presentation tech in the next 2 years. I won't jump on it too quickly though as you never know what amazing technology will be round the corner.

Settings - 3rd one down (long one) - then change 'treat as select tool' to pen and select. Or update to version 2 because that changes the setting. I've had that sorted for years! All my touch screens have worked with that. Hoping to get rid of it in summer when I upgrade to Windows 10 (y)
