My parts got moved from Portland to San Francisco yesterday!

San Francisco has a rather sizeable shipping port, so hopefully it shall be loaded onto a vessel bound for the UK soon!

But the quality is amazing, plus means i can bash him over the head daily

Personally I went with SaberForge just because they look the best (with the exception of 100% custom services, but those are even more expensive!) compared to, say, UltraSabers. I'm not 100% keen on their soundboards because you can't edit the sounds, but I can always replace that with a different board later on.

I bought a cheap $60 PVC pipe saber from Ultrasabers almost 10 years ago now. It's actually found some decent use as a lighting prop for my Dad's Genesis tribute band. If I was to get another one, I'd probably go for a replica of Obi-Wan Kenobi's Ep 1 and 2 hilt - I just think it looks the business!

 

Ultrasabers have since upped their game and their replica looks more or less identical to SaberForge's offering, but $30 cheaper... I'm not bothered about a soundboard, I do that myself!

I've heard so many horror stories about UltraSabers (In all fairness, I've heard some about SaberForge, too, but I've heard way more from UltraSabers), such as them just being filled with hot glue so they overheat, wires being loose and shorting contacts, and many many complaints about failed LED's.

That's very close to it (and very good looking too), but not quite! The Avenger, with the spiky ball pommel and banded grip, is the Ep1/2 design.

 

 

My experience of Ultrasabers is all very out of date, so you could be right. I did have an issue with my old saber, which I sent back and it was then completely replaced with the then new model. Haven't had any troubles since!

Strictly speaking, I'm not really supposed to be looking at lightsabers at work so I just googled movie screenshots and nabbed the first one with the right looking emitter. Didn't even pay attention to the switch, body or pommel! That'll learn me for rushing things!

Well in all fairness, my last saber was red...

This time I've gone for purple, but with the same dark-side font. I just prefer the sound of it. Maybe in the future I'll upgrade to an RGB LED and a sound board that lets me use custom fonts.. We'll see..

So, one of the guys I live with, about 5 years or so now loaned me and my partner-at-the-time a substantial quantity of monies when we were in a bit of financial bother. I guess I never felt like I properly thanked him for that.

He's pretty happy with my attempt to say 'Thank you'

Custom kill-keys arrived almost two weeks ago, finally got around to modifying them to fit SF recharge ports.. Now they're complete! (Kinda annoyed me that the kill keys had SF branding on them..)

 

 

James' is just the standard Jedi emblem, mine's a custom one based upon the Jedi emblem and Ahsoka Tano's facial markings, as a sort of 'Jedi Exile' thing.

I did think of getting another one, a green/blue one... so tempting, my stand does have place for 3 sabers after all and i only have the 1!

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but where did you get your custom kill keys from?

Also, do you know a UK supplier of blades?

I used to go to a karate school that taught "lightsaber" combat based on katana drills and Wado Ryu karate principles.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but where did you get your custom kill keys from?

A guy on facebook called Adrian Tan (I think.. I'll double-check after work.). If you're looking for custom services, you'll want to join Lightsaber groups on facebook. I don't recall the main one, but it's something like "Custom Lightsaber Owners, SaberForge, Ultrasabers etc etc" (as a note, it's actually run by SaberForge themselves, so you're advised not to be too critical of them, as apparently the owner can throw a hissy fit every now and again..)

Also, do you know a UK supplier of blades?

The only UK sabersmith that springs to mind is JQSabers.
