Oaktech Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 It *is* a whitelist, if the only people who have access to the ruleset understand what a whitelist *is*. In our instance, people other than me ocasionally access the filtering rules. These people do not understand the concept of whitelist, so I created something more descriptive for those people.

I'm curious who says otherwise TO be honest, most people in our position call it that or Allow Only which is pretty much the simple term we would tell non IT Literate. Even Service Providers call it that and put that on all paper work/Filtering naming etc. 1

If we're going to go with being pedantic, our category in Smoothwall is "Staff Allow", "Staff HTTPS Allow", and "Custom Allow" But we still refer to it as whitelisting a domain. (inb4 don't be racist, yo)
