FN-GM Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Hi, We are having another school joining our Academy Trust. At the moment they have a Office 365 tenant of their own. We want to move the mailboxes from this tenant into the academy trust tenant and close the first one. We can't mass export PST files from Exchange Online using Powershell. Does anyone have any thoughts on how we could do this please? Thanks
smithson83 Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 This isn't going to be much help, or thrill you, but we ended up moving from one tenant to another. The only way I found of doing was to log in to Outlook (Full Desktop version) using each account in turn, backup the mailbox, login with new tenant, and restore it. I managed to get half our staff to do it them selves with crib sheets, but ended up migrating the other half with them sat next to me providing passwords, took about 5mins per user.
beany1 Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 I'm probably totally wrong, but isn't this what the email migration thing is for in the admin centre under migration? If you specify other you can input imap details.
smithson83 Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 After a quick poke around, this (IMAP migration)does seem like an option, but its limited to email only (won't transfer contacts, calendar ot tasks etc.), 500,000 items (oldest to newest) and each email is limited to 35MB. Not sure if any of that is a problem. link I'm sure there are 3rd parties that will happily take your money to do it for you...
psydii Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Reverse hybridisation, and use on prem exchange to do the migration. Migrate Office 365 tenants with a hybrid Exchange Server
snagrat Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 I've used CloudMigrator365 (I think that's the name) to do this before. We told TA that their accounts wouldn't move to save on money and just moved teachers and above. Easy to use
Edu-IT Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Bulk export out of Office 365 using this tool, then, import again? http://www.messageops.com/office-365-exchange-migrator/exporting-office-365-mailboxes-to-pst-files/

FN-GM Posted May 16, 2016 Author Posted May 16, 2016 I haven't yet. There was an issue with the school joining the trust so it caused a delay. We have something more firm now so its coming on the cards soon! Thanks 1
FN-GM Posted June 4, 2016 Author Posted June 4, 2016 (edited) Hello @tj2419 I have been playing around with this today. It looks like an IMAP migration is the way forward. Not the best solution but seems to work ok. But it doesn’t migrate contacts, calendar items, or tasks. Thanks Edited June 4, 2016 by FN-GM
nadeem Posted June 6, 2016 Posted June 6, 2016 Paid for solutions that work (have used both) are Cloud Migrator and MigrationWiz 1
nathan Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 i know this is an old thread, but the following may be a solution to export all mailboxes to PST files without using outlook. How to export Office 365 mailboxes to PST using eDiscovery - Exchange & Office 365 Admin's Blog 1
Edu-IT Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 i know this is an old thread, but the following may be a solution to export all mailboxes to PST files without using outlook. How to export Office 365 mailboxes to PST using eDiscovery - Exchange & Office 365 Admin's Blog I gave this a try and it was a tad unsuccessful. I don't think it handled large mailboxes very well.
nathan Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 i've heard that users have had 10gb mailboxes successfully download. I'm in the process of migrating emails from various services over to Office 365 so will test it out.
FN-GM Posted August 2, 2016 Author Posted August 2, 2016 I gave it a go today and downloaded a single 15GB mailbox without issue (apart from me rebooting the machine part way!!!).
Edu-IT Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 I gave it a go today and downloaded a single 15GB mailbox without issue (apart from me rebooting the machine part way!!!). It only does mail not calendars and contacts, right?
FN-GM Posted August 2, 2016 Author Posted August 2, 2016 It only does mail not calendars and contacts, right? Exported everything. I think your getting mixed up with a IMAP migration.
