Print job stuck in queue

Teacher has sent a certificate to print whilst at home on her laptop. She said normally when she sends stuff to print at home it comes out when at work, but it hasn't done that today.

 

RESEND IT! I hear you cry... but no. One of the things was an online certificate that she needs to print off. There was no opportunity to save it.

 

How can I get the job in the queue to print? I've right clicked and tried the whole, restart, resume etcs. The laptop is fully connected to the network. You can see other peoples jobs popping up on the list. Most annoying.

 

Failing this I guess she's gonna have to email the certificate issuer?

I know this does not help this time around re the print job being stuck in the print que and not actually printing out but going forwards could you not install a PDF Writer of some description onto her machine / laptop so when it asks her to print, she selects the pdf writer so it saves a pdf copy of said certificate and then she can open the pdf copy to print this out ??

Of course this is already an option! LOLZ.

 

If I restart the print spooler on the machine that will clear the job won't it? I've tried looking at internet history to see if I can get the page up, but can't see anything obvious.

Try C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS and see if the file is in there within the spool.

 

Could try manually copying it over to the spool on a printer at work.

Can't help with current problem, but I normally use CutePDF (other options are available) for things like this - then there's a copy that can be reprinted.

IT'S OK! I found the link for the module and whizzed through it and printed another certificate.

 

Although at the end it asked for name and organisation, but then when you clicked print it just sent it to default printer and didn't ask about settings or ANYTHING. How rude.

Set the PDF Writer printer as default and show how to do this or make a guide on how the user(s) can do this and then go through the module or whatever process to create and print out the cert

 

Once done just change default printer back and done

We very often get jobs stuck in print queues. The solution is always to delete/resume the job, and restart the physical printer.
