I've not seen anything to convince me to go for the Rift over the Vive. I'm seriously considering VR now though, as some of the VR games are starting to look like they could be great fun. The Star Trek one in particular.

*Wakes up* What, what? Star Trek?

Hmm, and I'm trying to sell mine (Oculus).

I'm pretty disappointed in VR.

Curious as to why you feel that way? Is it that there is not enough to do with it or is it the technology itself you don't think works very well (or something else)?

I really love the idea of VR but honestly I think if I got it I would use it for a few months then run out of things to do with it and get bored. We all the major consoles looking at supporting VR though maybe that will change as there will be more content.

The technology works ok but it's just not quite good enough IMO... it's very pixelated and the god rays are pretty bad.

It's just not quite the time... give it a few more years.

What graphics card and CPU are you running that on?

You hit the nail on the head... it's basically a £500 tech demo. Now that isn't to say that's a bad thing as everything has to start somewhere right? And without early adopters tech like this would never get released.

For me however, I think I'll be waiting until they can render @ 4k 90fps before I get excited about it.

Been playing it on for a couple of days now, boo to the naysayers - yes it's not perfect but it's early days in technology - I've been nothing short of amazed by it and I've been playing games for a long long time and have been getting jaded with games in the last few years. This offers a whole new angle and has made things fun again. This is just the start and things will only get better, no touch controllers is a problem but I feel this is just introducing me to the technology and once touch comes out it'll make it even better.

the problem is if the gen1 version isnt good enough/dosent sell well there will be no gen2 to fix theese issues and make it cheaper and i just dont see a reason to get one ive yet to see a game that looks like more than a tech demo

GearVR I suppose is the gateway, I've been playing Lucky's Tale a lot - It's no tech demo and I'm really enjoying the extra aspect being in the rift gives to 3d platformers. Thirty games coming out apparently for Touch too

elite is a game that already existed just ported bridge crew i will defer judgement on until its out and we can see if its just a longer tech demo

Games don't need to be designed with VR at their heart, there are plenty of games that support VR without being classed as a VR game. I think both headsets have already sold more than the manufactures were expecting, the component shortage and wait times to get them proved that.
