can we delete items from the SIMS DOCSTORAGE folder

Recently our storage space on the SIMS server has been taken up to the point where we haven't much left. This looks like it's due to the contents of the DOCSTORAGE folder recently expanding. Is it possible to delete items from within this folder or would this break something in SIMS? Edited December 14, 2015 by elsiegee40

DOCSTORAGE contains all your documents that are linked to pupil records in SIMS... so yes, deleting things from here would break things.

I've just asked our SIMS team the same question! We also have a large Microsoft SQL Folder that hold 2008 while the Program File folder has the 2012 flavour. I assume SIMS needs both?

No, just one version of SQL is needed

On the server open a command prompt and navigate to C:\Program files (x86)\SIMS\SIMS .net Document Server and type dmconfig and press enter. This will show you where SIMS thinks your doc storage is. You can probably get rid of the other one (I'd probably rename it at first, just in case)

Thanks for the info. Our SIMS team did the job for us (the SQL 2008 stuff wasn't needed) and also had a good old scrub around. Now looks a lot healthier!
