Joanne Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 Thought I'd start a quick thread. The goalposts are always changing in regards to what you must have on your website. Post checklist documents here. I'll start with this one: https://www.webanywhere.co.uk/sites/webanywhere.co.uk/files/resources/ofsted_requirements_2015.pdf What checklists do you reference? 1

jcs808 Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 Got this from our hosting company Your 2015 Ofsted-Ready Website Checklist 1
adamholt1 Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 Out of interest - Is there any SEN school ones that anyone follows? I use the Webanywhere one but where it says must publish certain attainment levels we are unable to as our children don't work at those levels. Just wondering if there is a specific one out there?

StevieM Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 (edited) Here it is right out of the horses mouth - https://www.gov.uk/guidance/what-maintained-schools-must-publish-online From:Department for Education First published:18 September 2014 Last updated: 3 December 2015, see all updates It tells us that the document was updated on 3 December 2015. They also put a handy link to all the updates so we can see at a glance what has changed, rather than having to trawl through the whole document. Let me just click on that... 3 December 2015 3:54pm Added details of the information schools must publish about their governing body Come on, DfE. Even if you'd just shown the new stuff in bold, or put an asterisk next to it, it would have helped. Edit: I sent the following comment via there 'Is their anything wrong with this page?' link. What you were doing I was checking the document to see what new information needs to be published on the school website. What went wrong I can't easily see what changes have been made. I know that our website complied before 3 December. If only you had listed the changes separately, or shown them in bold or italics, or marked with an asterisk, it would have been so much simpler to check compliance. Instead, I have to work my way through the entire document, and there may only be one change for all I know. As an aside, just take a look at the improper use of punctuation on that page! Edit of edit: I've just reread what I posted (and quoted) and realised I've ranted for no reason whatsoever. They've done exactly what I was moaning about! The only change is the information about the governing body. My brain switched off after 'information schools must publish'. Don't I feel stupid, now! Edited December 10, 2015 by StevieM 1

I imagine that you don't need that section as it isn't applicable. Thanks for all the links guys. Thought it might be a useful thread to start
ebuckner Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 Hi all, slightly off topic but still involving website checks. Does anyone use a 3rd party company to check their sites for the Ofsted regs? Like yourselves I have always checked it myself using a variety of different sources but our SLT have seen a sales email from a company saying they will check it for you and read all the policies ect for a fee, I am very much against paying for something on the strength of an email and to be honest am quite happy checking it myself but they want it checked via a 3rd party and have asked me to research it. Any help would be great!
Steve21 Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 Personally wouldn't see the point. It's still your fault if it's wrong, even if they verify it's fine, and normally we just get a few people (e.g. management) to have a nosy at their own areas and check their bits Steve
sparkeh Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 I can't see the point in paying for this either. Its pretty simple right? There's a list of requirements and either they are fulfilled or they aren't.
Joanne Posted January 13, 2016 Author Posted January 13, 2016 Yeah don't pay for that!! . o O (get's idea for new money making scheme)
elsiegee40 Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 For goodness sake don't pay to get it checked. There's not much effort required to find out what content you need. Presentation of said content is up to you. It's money for old rope. You pay them to do what you could have done for free. Then they charge you extra to 'fix' it.
ebuckner Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 I had the same conversation with the member of SLT that meets with me each week. TBH I got quite angry about the situation but they don't seem to understand it's just a money making scheme! They tried telling me that if we paid someone we could blame them, pretty sure I am still getting the blame if Ofsted rock up and it is wrong! As far as I can see all we get for said price is a kite mark!! Cheers guys
sparkeh Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 (edited) They tried telling me that if we paid someone we could blame them Hahahaha...no. No one in their right mind would think that surely? Wouldn't it just highlight incompetence in that the school can't even follow a simple checklist?! Edited January 13, 2016 by sparkeh
ebuckner Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 I couldn't comment. However I got the replies I was fully expecting from you guys cheers all
localzuk Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 Everyone should also be aware that Academies and Free Schools may well have different requirements, based on their Funding Agreement from the EFA.
StevieM Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 ...pretty sure I am still getting the blame if Ofsted rock up and it is wrong! Surely it is up to the SLT to ensure that the website meets statutory criteria, in the same way that they are responsible for ensuring that lesson planning meets the National Curriculum requirements. Much of the required content needs to come from the SLT in the first place in the form of policies. You can check whether you have uploaded the content, but how do you know, for example, that the behaviour policy complies with section 89 of the Education and Inspections Act 2006?
jmak Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 I used the dfe checklist and added to a spreadsheet. I then put a hyperlink in to the page on our website which I think meets that requirement. Then SLT can check to make sure that the content is up to spec.
Joanne Posted January 13, 2016 Author Posted January 13, 2016 I'd say the only thing you could 'get the blame for' would be poor layout of the website, which makes it hard to find stuff. My website is incredibly simple to navigate and clearly labelled so you can find the right bits. Cherry Fold Community Primary School BB11 5JS - Home
StevieM Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 During our last OFSTED in November, one of the inspectors told me that our website was excellent because it had lots of information and was very easy to navigate - '...and I look at a LOT of school websites.' Praise indeed. 1
