nathan Posted December 4, 2015 Posted December 4, 2015 Hi All, I'm currently looking into migrating a few schools over to the same Office 365 tenancy. Just wondering if any has had any experiences of this, we'll be migrating from a few suppliers, RM (for obvious reasons!), LA Hosted Exchange and Office 365 (differing tenancy) Obviously we could do it via PST files but it's going to be pretty time consuming, for those have that been through this - Are there any streamlined ways that won't cost the earth? It would be for about 300 users.

That's most likely because most of us moved over a few years back, I believe @witch would agree that EasyMail was a nightmare, her advice to search the forum is extremely valid because of the annoying gotchas. I would have thought the information would be still correct. yeah just been looking at those, looks like IMAP is the only option for a few of them - unfortunately this won't bring over the calendar I was lucky when I migrated from EasyMail, that no one used the calendar, so it wasn't an issue. Though be aware that contacts and distribution lists are another thing that don't get transferred over by the process (I had to manually export them, change the syntax for 365 and import them), and the sent items in the EasyMail 'Outbox' (Or as everyone else would call it Sent Items) appeared in the 365 accounts Inbox on migration. With EasyMail you couldn't use an admin level account to transfer the data, I had to ask staff if I could get their password, otherwise I would have to reset it and give them the new password (or they would have to migrate their own data). If people have not bothered updating their password since the new (now old) password security changes (lower case/capital letters/numbers), the password will need to be updated to conform to the policy for IMAP to work. I believe @witch had problems with IMAP not being enabled on some accounts and we don't have the ability to see that or change that setting on our end. Lucky for me I didn't have that issue, but I did find that some random e-mails wouldn't transfer, almost like there was a small amount of file corruption on the couple of e-mails held on the server (again lucky for me, these e-mails were not important to those affected). So yeah, I would strongly suggest as @witch has to search and reading the old threads here. I know this could read as '*Facepalm* What did I get myself into‽', but we all made it through the other side, and I am sure if you hit any snags someone here will have come across it. All the best!

Well, you'd think so - and one of my schools was fine but in the other one it took me four months as at least half the accounts wouldn't migrate. But I got a lot of support on here and from Microsoft and I got there in the end 1
