localzuk Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 I have a really odd imaging issue with one of our PCs. Basically, the image gets so far then gives up. Windows is successfully installed and the PC joined to the domain, but none of the application installs are performed. To compound the issue, the smsts logs are corrupt somehow - they are 978KB in size, but when opened they just contain loads of NULL characters! The same task sequence works fine on other PCs, as do all the application installers. I've also swapped out the hard disk for a new SSD as well. Anyone got any ideas?
Sagima Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 Make sure continue on error is set for all of the post windows domain steps and see if only one thing fails out of the rest of the list. Might help narrow down the problem.
localzuk Posted November 12, 2015 Author Posted November 12, 2015 I have that set already, it is dying after installing drivers. Not even getting to the SCCM Client Upgrade step.
Sagima Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 Makes me think that the network card is losing its connection - when it gives up and you press f8 (you might need to turn continue on error off for that) does it have an ip? Have you tried a different port/cable/part of the school or just not have the drivers install and see if it gets one stage further or try a different network card if you can
localzuk Posted November 12, 2015 Author Posted November 12, 2015 Actually, that is a real possibility. This model of PC has suffered from constant network card issues since we've had them - leading to many motherboards being replaced over the years.
