To be honest, i tried to package and decided that as we were only running this in one room, i just copied the file to each of the machines C drives and then published a shortcut.

^^^

Ditto this. I actually made some notes when I did this(!)

  • Installed to C:\Minecraft on a machine and directed to correct server IP (may need proxy if you want Mojang access), then fine-tuned launchersettings.ini (Launcher - MinecraftEdu wiki) then copied the whole Minecraft folder to a network location for distribution

Just scripted a copy to C:\ and placed shortcut as appropriate.

Within 3 months (and most of that was Summer Hols) was asked to "temporarily" remove it because they kids were playing when they should have been doing other things/staff were letting them use machines unsupervised and it was causing problems at lunch time :(.

I ended up creating a custom start menu folder for a single account, so that only that account got the shortcut to launch minecraft. The account gets enabled when they want to use it.

It wasn't too bad for us as it's only one room we are using it in.

We have redirected Desktops with the shortcuts there, so easy enough to put back - but no-one has asked since. I'm guessing that it's a load of my time + the licensing costs down the drain :(.

It's myself and an IT teacher running our club, we're having to run the club 3 times a week with different kids due to the amount of kids wanting to be in the club.

We're learning more watching them play then we did playing it for years!

We run Minecraft across the network from a shared drive.....and clients are restricted by IP group to stop kids all over the network from running it when the server is active.
