PETG does lose water quicker due to evaporation/permeation, so you'll need to buy more every now and again to top up, but it's much easier to bend and much more durable during impact. Oh, worth noting there are mentions of PETG not playing nicely with UV lighting. So careful with that. I did have a proper custom loop a while ago, but it was just too much effort to swap parts or clean the machine, so I've gone with a H100i GTX and a 980ti Hybrid. Most of the benefits, none of the mess Doesn't look as good, though Thanks for the heads up yeah I used to have a big ol' EK setup with soft loop but I switched to self-contained units.. now I'm bored of them and want to switch back
Garacesh Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 Yeah, PETG doesn't shatter or splinter like Acrylic tubing does, and it bends under less heat. BUT. PETG may react badly with UV lighting (no experience, just heard people saying it) and isn't as scratch resistant as Acrylic. PETG looks a little bit cloudier/isn't quite as clear as Acrylic tubing but once you put fluid inside it, you'll be hard-pressed to tell the difference, especially if you're using coloured ones. And as long as you're using a decent-brand fluid, you won't have any negative reaction with either one of them. Just make sure, as always, to use kill coils. I'd like to go back to a custom loop and I'd like to use hard tubing, because they look so awesome.. But I don't have the nads to try it lol. Plus everything's using closed loops now and runs just fine so there's no real need for me to do it. It's just an aesthetics thing. Like custom braided cables. I want those, too...

When it doesn't do what I want it to - last time round must have been 3/4 years back, although I did splurge on triple screens 12 months later. I've got no particular motivation to upgrade the PC at the moment but I am getting an itchy wallet looking at some wheel/pedal/gear stick combo's. but. I. must. resist.

The Fanatec gear is unreal, comes with a price tag though, but it would make the ultimate drift setup!

Fanatec stuff is good (I have CSP v2) but I choked at getting CSW v2 & Porsche 918 rim for close to $1000, I had early invitation too as a purchased CSP v2 but for me it was way too much. I'm also looking around for a new wheel as my aging G25 is getting a bit wobbly these days (after 4 years of almost daily use) my current options are click buy on fanatec site and forget that its real life money i spending, the thrustmaster t300 ferrari 599 or a Logitech G27 which I think is best value for money of the bunch. I'll be looking in the black friday / cyber monday sales for sure.
pcstru Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 G27 is my current combo, which has been running for 6/7 years - but is still going strong. I'm tempted by a direct drive wheel - either a DIY job or the Accuforce Pro. The latter would save a lot of faffing about apart although either would probably mean building a dedicated rig. Currently, the G27 just slides across the desk and clamps on - I think that would be a major pain with any upgrade.

Why not use PETG and custom braid them too? Solves the UV and scratching, plus ties it in with your cabling

O.o PETG is hydro cooling piping. Custom braiding is for the PSU wires..? O.o No point in using transparent tubing for your water loop if you're going to cover it up might as well go with copper pipes. Go with copper pipes then, just braid everything to match!

Graphics card - whenever the games I want to run won't achieve 35-40 fps on medium. Ram - if the new mobo doesn't support what my old did, then I upgrade. CPU - every 3 years Mobo - every 3 years Keyboard - 7 years and going strong Mouse - whenever the old one dies Monitor - whenever the old one dies.
LiamHaith Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 I'm a fan of the "Upgrade as soon as possible" however... it's quickly becoming extremely expensive... but I'm a big fan of the pretties... But it's beautiful playing 7 games at once and each one easily doing 120fps.

Spent about £550 Gigabyte Z97X-Gaming 7 Intel Z97 Intel Core i7-4790K 4.00GHz (Devil's Canyon) AMD Radeon R9 285 2GB Vulcan RED 8GB DDR3 Samsung Evo SSD may upgrade gfx card at some point but not playing any games currently! Before this I was on i7 920 first gen
