cdgill241183 Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 Enable Switch User GPO Hi All, Does anyone know where in GP this can be enabled. Sick of users locking there machines then other people coming to teach in a room and having to hold the power button to reset the machine. Thanks in advance Chris
DJ-1701 Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> System -> Logon -> Hide entry points for Fast User Switching Changing this to Disabled should allow others to login.
DJ-1701 Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 Also, before we had Imepro to unlock/logoff workstations I made this HTA so I could log them off remotely. Workstation Log Off Tool APPLICATIONNAME="Workstation Log Off Tool" SCROLL="yes" SINGLEINSTANCE="yes" WINDOWSTATE="normal" >
Sub Window_onLoad
window.resizeTo 430,220
End Sub
Sub LogOffSub
On Error Resume Next
strComputer=ComputerName.Value
Set objWMIService = GetObject("winmgmts:" & "{impersonationLevel=impersonate}!\\" & strComputer & "\root\cimv2")
Set colOperatingSystems = objWMIService.ExecQuery ("SELECT * FROM Win32_OperatingSystem")
For Each objOperatingSystem in colOperatingSystems
ObjOperatingSystem.Win32Shutdown(4)
If Err.Number <> 0 Then
If Err.Number = -2147217407 Then
MsgBox("Error logging off " & strComputer & "." & vbCr & vbCr & "Most likely cause, the machine was not logged in." & vbCr & vbCr & "Please check and try again.")
ElseIf Err.Number = 424 Then
MsgBox("Error logging off " & strComputer & "." & vbCr & vbCr & "Most likely cause, the machine is not turned on or a typo was made." & vbCr & vbCr & "Please check and try again.")
Else
MsgBox("An unknown error occured while trying to log off " & strcomputer & "." & vbCr & vbCr & "Error Number: " & Err.Number & vbCr & "Error Discription: " & Err.Description)
End If
Else
MsgBox("Success! " & strcomputer & " is performing a forced log off.")
End If
Next
End Sub
Workstation Log Off Tool Please type the computer name you wish to log off.
Davit2005 Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 Found this can cause other issues. i.e. staff logs into PC, leaves them selves logged in, walks off to other PC and then changes password leading to their account getting continuously locked out. Getting PC's to shutdown everyday automatically has nearly eradicated the issue this causes for us though and we can easily sort out ant that do arise.
