I probably will :) I just haven't done yet.

I finally figured out how crucibles work. The Thaumonomicon entry is pretty useless for it. It tells you to add a catalyst, it doesn't tell you what the catalyst is. Turns out "the catalyst" is the item you throw in last once you've got the right mix of essentia already in the crucible, as depicted by the item and the arrow above the crucible.

I'm using liquid ender at the moment to cool my big reactor after doing some quite in depth maths based on what I've got and what the BigReactor Simulator says I should get. I don't think that it makes a huge difference to be honest. Am I right in saying that the power factor is 0.8 for them?

AFAIK, you need a decent chunk of Yellorite, some Uranium, and a butt-tonne of whatever you're building your reactor casing out of. Then you can just be lazy and dump water on top of it for cooling.

But tbh I haven't even looked at them this time around.

I completely forgot about bigreactors... how expensive are they to start with initially?

For the most basic one (3x3x3) you need 34x graphite bar; 38x Iron Ingot; 12x Yellorium; 2x Redstone; 1x Diamond and either some Yellorium, Bluetonium or (I think, not tried this) Uranium to run from. That should generate ~250 RF/t

* the efficiency is slightly off because of a different power factor in this pack, but for that reactor, it's not far off.

Yep, add phials of goop first (which are dead easy to fill once you have the thamic energistics setup). Then throw item in. eg. balance shard is 2 of each primal aspect minus the shard you're going to use. So I normally throw 5x phials of the relevant colour then throw in 4x of my most common shard. This gets me 4x balance shards back for not a lot of effort.

Prior to using phials and mulitplying aspects by 8x to get round numbers of apect phials being used you end up with a horrible purple mess and venting vis into the atmosphere all the time.

Yep. I've moved my Thaumcraft setup outside now, A) to vent off the flux and B) to be closer to my Arcane Infuser.. But annoyingly, the research table I have upstairs in my house has basically 'starred'* about 90% of all the essentia types. I don't know how. There's nothing special nearby. I've basically duplicated the setup outside (sans cobblestone and glass) and I'm only getting primal aspects now (thanks to the crystals I have lay around).. What gives? D:

Making magic tallow last night I had to keep venting stuff off because I was using ender pearls, which produce waste as they're multi-vis. (Vis and Essentia are the same thing, right? I'm not getting confused am I?)

well since I do have a surplus of most basic - mid level materials (having run an ender quarry myself for some time) It's not an issue. Also, I can't stand the sight of enormous holes all over the landscape :)

Until the day you forget :D

Or someone else tries to mine there...

No-one will be defacing my lovely, flower covered landscape other than me! This is why I moved so far away?

Now there's an invite for a quarry if ever I heard one :p

* jokes of course. Greifing of that degree is just cruel and not at all fun.

To be fair, I have enough trouble sorting myself out right now without needing other people to harass me. I died yesterday to a creeper while trying to remedy the entire situation. I'm living in a 2x1 surrounded by chests because I'm yet to get the materials for any kind of serious storage and the Barrels/Drawers are only really useful for bulk of same item.

Also, when I get setup somewhat properly. I was thinking. We all currently have our bases but would it be possible to make a permanently chunkloaded "EduVille" where we all work together to design a city. I'd quite like to make a giant powerstation where every player can use X output from the powerstation. (For example, everyone gets a tesseract free from the "power company" that can transfer a maximum of... 500 rf/t (for example)) We could each take different aspects and make minigames/community things, instead of just wandering to someone elses base.

Something similar has been discussed a while back :) We were thinking of a big server project or something we could all work towards. Never did decide what we wanted to do..

Also if you're lacking resources, I don't mind dropping you some off :)

*SPOLIER* (highlight to read, @ZeroHour, can we get spoiler tags :D)

There is a rather small list of blocks that, when placed close to a research table, can cause this.

- Infused stones, crystal clusters, grass, fire, water source blocks, lava, placed redstone dust and repeaters, brain in a jar, bookshelf

Y-level and light level are considered too.

Every 600 ticks the table scans its surroundings, 8 blocks in every direction. When it finds a block that is on the list, there is a random chance that a bonus point is generated. Different blocks have a different chance for adding bonus points (Crystal clusters have a higher chance than infused stones). Most blocks only work for one primal aspect but brain in a jar and bookshelves can add bonus points for any aspect, chosen randomly once per block per scan. Since bookshelves have a very low chance to add a bonus point and scans only happen every 30 seconds, it can take a long time until a given aspect gains a bonus point.

Interesting sidenote: Regular research points (from scaning, decconstruction, combining) are stored per player (and shared by any table, no matter who placed it), bonus points are stored per table. Multiple tables can have bonus points for the same aspect that can be used individually.

Ok, I have posted some markers on the dynmap (server IP port 8123 in a browser), with temple icons, for potential homes for our future home.

We have a swampy area, with flatlands next door, and a volcano at EduVille. (nearish to Haith)

Similar, but no large body of water at EduVille2. (nearish to Sephiroph)

A village on top of an open ravine (we could take it over, and build in the walls of the ravine also), way down south not near anyone for EduVille3

A nice hilly wooded area with rivers, and arches etc... Quite pretty and interesting at EduVille4.

So... vote now for your choice of the future home of EduVille!
