Hi guys,

The school's using tapestry the ipad app on an ipad 2.

But sometime it won't upload the photographic observations (just sometimes mind you). We've check the ipads are connected to the internet with descent download and upload speed.

The uploading appears to be more reliable when the teacher uses it at home. This makes me think filtering/firewalling, but it sometimes working in school confuses this. And besides I have no idea what would need unblocking.

I've been unable to find any way of contacting any sort of customer support.

Any advice, suggestions, contact details anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated.

With tapestry I always do the following:

Make sure iOS is up to date.

Make sure Tapestry is up to date.

Make sure time and date are correct on iPad. (Our iPods have a habit of reverting to the 1970's for some reason!!!)

If it still isn't working, run a report on your web filter and see if any sites are being blocked. I don't ever recall having to unblock any sites on lightspeed... but you never know!

We've had a few issues with certain apps on our Firewall system. It came down to how the apps are designed and send traffic. This is the response we got whilst working with our Firewall Support:

The access logs (traffic dump) showed that the app appeared to be sending non-http traffic over http. This was causing the traffic to be block by the webfilter. It is not possible to bypass traffic from the app as it uses a content hosting provider and that would allow all content hosted on the servers.

I've not had to unblock anything in our firewall (smoothwall) but out iPads have been a bit funky since turning on https inspection.

In terms of support I usually log a ticket via the Tapestry website, they are pretty good at getting back to us quickly.

Yes this is what we noticed. We use smoothwall and have HTTPS inspection turned on. Not many apps are affected but some are. I know Ubersense and Periscope defiantly have issues.

Just going through old threads seeming as I haven't been on for almost 2 months, (new job). If you are still experiencing problems with this, at the start of the school year, I was having major issue with Tapestry in school, at home it worked fine. The issue was something to do with there servers receiving so many requests from the same network (because we are going through county) that there servers reported it as spam and stuff, so just blocked us from accessing it. Don't know if that is still the case due to not needing to use the software etc anymore, but might help?
