Does anyone know if you can buy just the plexiglass screens for iMacs?

 

We have a couple of rooms of the 21.5" Late 2013 macs that have the screen stuck on with what I assume is some kind of glue.

 

Two of them have been damaged and there are a couple of cracks spreading across the glass.

The screen underneath is fine as is the rest of the mac.

 

I'd just like to be able to replace the screen without having to send it off to Apple for 'diagnostics' then repair.

Sadly not plexiglass, it's toughened glass. They're held on with magnets, and you'll need some sucker cups (the type with handles that flip over) to pull the glass away. You can get the glass panels as far as I'm aware - I sent one away to be replaced before I tried it myself.

Nope, models up to around 2012 were magnets, got over 100 of those and I'm currently doing SSD upgrades on them.

 

On the 2013 models the glass is stuck on with glue. You've gotta heat it up or scrap it off to get inside:
