We purchased several iPads and apple TVs to be used around our academy. They all worked fine and there were no issues until one developed a fault and I restored it which updated the software. Since then it has been unable to set the date and time, which means that it will not air play and does not have any apps; so it's completely useless. After researching into the issue the only suggestions were to open port 123 as the apple TV needs to contact apple.time.com. This doesn't appear to have any effect. I contacted apple and they were of no help as they suggested the same thing and didn't have another solution.

Has anyone else seen this issue before? Or have any ideas on how to solve it?

Yep configurator has an 'Apple TV wizard where you can bypass the activation and add a profile with wireless settings. Quite handy

Not had chance to properly look at configurator 3 yet so not sure if anything has changed with this respect.

This happened to me with a brand new apple tv. we had three and the other 2 were a breeze through configurator until i got this one out. I spent the whole day trying to get it to work, I phoned apple support and they could not get it to work, I then took it home and still no luck. Rang the local apple store they said bring it down and they swapped it for a brand new one there and then and said it sometimes it happens with them.

Ring your local apple store and see what they can do.
