Hi,

I've had a phone call from a teacher who has taken her laptop home to work on some documents but when she opens the folders all the documents have grey crosses on them and won't open. She also told me that all of the teachers are having the same problem. The drive has been made available offline and been synchronised they haven't had a problem before.

I've checked the server and can't see any issues all the documents are there and will open. The staff can also open the documents at school just not at home.

Any ideas?

Thank you in advance.

Sorry, The files are not available offline.

If they had been pinned and sync'd then something must have unpinned them.

I have found that to reliably make files and folders available off line, you have to pin the drive/folder then select the contents of the folder and then 'sync all selected files'.

For us, at a weekend, if it is urgent enough for someone to report it to you, generally it is important enough to figure out a way of getting the files to the user. One drive/Dropbox are what we usually use if we've failed to get their files offline properly.

Ugh, offline files

You can set a GPO which should force sync before log off as well which could help keep the cache up to date... if they log off!
