We currently use Microsoft autoroute 2010 for as the crow flies distance measurements for our catchment area. As Microsoft have discontinued the product I was looking to see if anybody has any recommendations to do this?

Thanks

Google maps?

Right click school and select "Measure Distance", find where you want to measure to, right click and select "Distance to here".

EDIT: Ohh and you can grab the end points to move them and select a mid point if your crow got lost and you need to factor in a mid point.

Google Earth Pro is now free and measuring area and irregular shapes is one of the things you get in pro...

Download GEP Google Earth

In fact, it is really easy in GE Pro. As you are doing "crow-flies" distance, all you need to do is super-impose a circle of "catchment area diameter"; job done.

I've been asked to try and get one for our catchment area using roads/footpaths... at a bit of a loss what to do about it
