So is anyone going to this? I'm very tempted as it's just down the road. Not sure if I can justify it though- a whole day away from work to look at shiney new toys to play with that we will probably not be able to afford!

Would love to, but the phrase 'get blood from a stone' applies here, so won't be going.

For writing with a stylus/pen a old school activboard is better than a avtivpanel or CleverTouch. There are still no affordable 30" + capacitive touch screens available due to the limitations of capacitive technology. Was hoping the surface hub was capacitive but I read that it is infrared. Although the new PerceptivePixel tech in this device is exciting and should be a huge improvement ober exisitng large format touch screens. http://www.cnet.com/uk/news/meet-surface-hub-microsofts-take-on-videoconferencing/

Any ideas of how much better the Surface hub will be over a CleverTouch or Promethean activpanel? I'm dissatisfied with the state of IR tech I have used i.e. an object breaks the beam of light 0.5cm above the glass ad that is concidered touch detection when i havn't touched the screen Also parallax is an issue. I wonder how much of an improvement the surface hub is? Hopefully MS will have some hubs available at BETTto see.

Correction the surface hub has

Touch: 100-point multi-touch

Projective Capacitance optically bonded sensor

not infrared. Woo! But probably too expensive for interactive whiteboard use as Surface Hub is aimed at large corperates who spend big bucks on their conference rooms and specialised video conference equpment

Well.... they did showcase it at the education show they did in reading, so it's clearly they see it in classrooms, it will be costly though, almost certainly.
