Powerline adapter advice

Hi

The previous network manager at my school, set up a powerline adapter in the caretakers office as there is no cabling other than power to the building.

The office now needs more network connections, my question is it possible to have more than one pair of powerline adapters connected or should I look at running Cat 6 cabling?

I would personally run cables. You can run more than 1 powerline adaptor, but it's not ideal. Depends how mission critical the devices are

or run the powerline into a switch. Proper cabling is always good though.

Run Cables always. Those powerline adapters put out lots of radio interference.

I have noticed odd blips for a couple of minutes when using some powerline adapters so I would second what @Joanne said. Cabling is less problematic when running multiple devices.

You can encrypt them but if i were you id run cables to the office, you never know when you may need a cable connection.

 

The other option is to stick a mini desktop switch the caretakers office connecting to the powerline adapter. How good are the powerline adapters you have? Some earlier ones arent that good.

Thanks for the advice. Ended up running cable to it in the end.
