Meraki MDM Free VS Enterprise/Paid

Hi,

 

We currently use Meraki MDM and have nearly 250 clients linked.

It isn't very clear what the differences are between the FREE & PAID versions, does anyone know? - Also roughly the cost?

 

 

I am aware the free version is no longer updated but is the enterprise version worth it?

 

Any help would be appreciated:)

Well for a start there is now a 100 device limit on the free Meraki MDM.

We have nearly 250 in the "client" list.

 

Unless that is talking about 100 maximum users available to be setup with Apple VPP, I am unsure how we have surpassed the 100 device limit...

The "legacy" free solution, that isn't updated, has an unlimited device count - you are using this.

 

The new system, "Enterprise" I believe it is called, has a free client limit of 100 devices.

The restrictions page has changed and I believe if you want to use any of the new iOS9 features, you'll need to be on the new system.

What iOS 9 features are you talking about? - We have upgraded a chunk of the iPad etc to iOS 9 already.

Some of the new restrictions apparently for iOS9 (like stop name change, force backgorund) are only available in the enterprise one I believe and obviously as time goes on and features are added, the devices will be left more open and what not.

Looks like my best option is to contact Cisco for further help/pricing then in order to keep the devices locked down how they should be.

Upgraded to the Enterprise edition at the end of last week as only have 40 clients so far. On the Mobile Settings within the profiles area the following have been added:

 

Allow iCloud Photo Library (iOS 9)

Disallow sharing of managed documents with AirDrop (iOS 9)

Allow App Store (iOS 9) Allow keyboard shortcuts (iOS 9)

Allow pairing with Apple Watch (iOS 9)

Allow modification of passcode settings (iOS 9)

Allow modification of device name (iOS 9)

Allow modification of wallpaper (iOS 9)

Allow automatic downloading of apps purchased on other devices (iOS 9)

Automatically trust enterprise apps (iOS 9)

Allow News app (iOS 9)

 

I haven't had much more time to look any deeper. They have worked without issue when updating our class set of iPads this morning.

Admittedly I haven't tested them but.... I'm only using the free version of Meraki with up to 100 devices. I have 39 iPad clients so far. And yet I am seeing those iOS9 options on my settings page - are you saying that they won't work if I enable them?

There are 2 free versions. The old one, which has no limit (doesn't have new features), and the new Enterprise system, which has a 100 free device limit, which has been updated.

Are your settings the same? / Are there more for you?

We are using the legacy version that, "doesn't get updated"...yet we get to try the beta page for the profiles...

Seems to be exactly the same as mine, you have an extra tab on the end though...guessing that says Samsung?

It does say Samsung but I don't use any of that. The settings themselves are the same, but like I say - mine doesn't show the word 'Beta' anywhere on screen. It's not the legacy system but the new version with a max of 100 devices for free

Admittedly dragging this up fom a year back but is this still the case - is there still no difference after a year?

 

We abandoned our Meraki setup but I now need to look at it again and am wondering about changing from the old free limitless to the new free if under 100 devices offering.
