Only have a MAK key, are MS really going to make us call them every time we want a KMS key issued?

Also no mention of Active Directory Based Activation compatibility.

We have both the MAK and KMS key available on VLSC, no phone call required here.

Am I doing something wrong?

Call Microsoft to obtain a KMS key for Pro Plus 2016. After 20 minutes of scouring around I get one. Try it in VAMT and it's apparently invalid. So I run the KMS host software and the key works there, activated fine. Does it take awhile for Office to activate or am I still needing another key?!

Called MS and other than having to provide a few more pieces of identification compared to the Windows 10 KMS call, it was all done in 5 minutes.

I did have to go and download the 1mb KMS host ISO from the VLC as well so that the code would take effect in our 2012 R2 server, but it's now happily showing that Office 2010 -> 2016 will be activated

They do in outlook...

Mine don't :( ......it must be a policy somewhere I guess.

Edit: I had to remake my local Outlook/Mail profile, weird!

I've got our KMS key and installed it on our KMS host (after another phone call to MS, had to do the same for W10); although it doesn't appear to allow any clients to activate via it...

Keeps erroring with 0xC004F074 & 0xC004F042 here.

She did say on the phone that they've had a LOT of problems with the Office 2016 activations / rollout so far and would expect me to encounter issues!

Now I've got Office 2016 RemoteApps setup on a pool of Win10 VMs via RDS.

It is so much quicker than 2013 (as appears to be Win10) - finally something that's right.

Just need my KMS key to stop them whinging about activation.

So I've read the blog and found it clear as mud...

We have O365 on the free for education subscription (although not actually using it in school yet) which entitles staff and pupils to download Office Pro for home use on up to 5 devices - seems like a better deal for them than the HUP. I think the blog entry attempts to answer the question of when Office 2016 will be available to them, but I can't work out the answer.

Also, any hints on whether they're allowed to download that if they've already downloaded Office 2013 or if they have to wait until the next O365 subscription period?

You can install it on upto 10 devices now.

I think the HUP is aimed at businesses that don't get the freebies we get.

To get Office 2016 you have to set your tenancy or individual users to early release. You will then have the ability to install it.

Still nothing by way of activation. Tried to remove the host key but I get a 'product key not found' despite it being installed. Any pointers? Baffled...

Same here - we've got above the 5 minimum clients but no activation. Have Googled and it looks like a common problem. Typical Microsoft - there will be a patch out before long to fix it.

Still no KMS key this morning after being told it would appear automatically on Monday.

Rang them up, and MS generated a KMS key straight away. Installed the Office 2016 volume licensing pack (www) added the key to the Licensing Server using ADBA and after installing a copy of Office 2016 Pro Plus on my machine it activated straight away.

A few nice changes but not a big difference.

This is normal, you don't get KMS keys automatically anymore.

Thanks

Yeah I've asked for mine and they have provided by the next day. Pretty good going. Although going off what people are saying here, the activation doesn't work.... I'm not deploying it just yet anyways, but might test it on a few spare laptops :)
