Joanne Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 We've got an Inventry sign in system and it isn't updating records from SIMS. When I go onto the machine, SIMS is fine and works. When the Inventry software pops up with connection status it says connected. HOWEVER, children haven't moved up a year and new staff members aren't on there. Support is AWFUL. I'm not sure what has happened over summer, but when you ring up you can only leave a message with a phone jockey. Before summer you got an engineer... so yeah, no calls returned and it's a pretty urgent matter really. Anyone know anything about Inventry? Any suggestions for what I can try?
LosOjos Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 Is it live or does it update at set intervals? If it's live (i.e. as soon as you change something in SIMS, the change is reflected in Inventry) then you're pretty much stuck without their support (or possibly someone else on here who uses it!) If there's a delay, it's probably using CommandReporter to pull data, in which case have a look at the reports defined in your SIMS to find which it runs - the supplier name will help and the report name will probably be a give away. Just double check that if you run them manually, the data is populated as expected.
jtoland Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 If you backup your inventory try doing a restore if not pm me the config file and i can have a look at it for you
Joanne Posted September 16, 2015 Author Posted September 16, 2015 It's meant to happen each night. I'll check for the report thing! Thanks.
jtoland Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 I know but ours failed to do even that at one point but sorted it out
Joanne Posted September 16, 2015 Author Posted September 16, 2015 hmmm there is a staff report in there, but it's dated when it was installed... hmmm...
jtoland Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 Ok thats abit random do you regualy do reports
Joanne Posted September 16, 2015 Author Posted September 16, 2015 No, I've never had to touch it. I called support a couple of times before summer and they were on point - got on the phone to an engineer and got stuff sorted within the hour. Now when I call I have to leave a message with a phone monkey... they can't even see my previous calls... kinda beyond a joke. I've e-mailed a couple of people there too (e-mails that I found in our welcome pack). A dodgy update must have gone out and that's why they are so busy...
cullingsh Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 We use the inventry system and can't say we've had any complaints about it yet - haven't had need to look at it yet (will attempt tomorrow) but does it run a scheduled task to get the data overnight and if so, does it work if you run it manually?
Joanne Posted September 17, 2015 Author Posted September 17, 2015 not checked scheduled tasks... I'll will have a look now!
Joanne Posted September 17, 2015 Author Posted September 17, 2015 No scheduled tasks set up. I've noticed it doesn't map S: drive though. The script is in startup and if I manually click on it, it maps fine... weird.
cullingsh Posted September 17, 2015 Posted September 17, 2015 I had a look at ours today, and there is a section in the software for sims user/pass/database location - have you checked all that out. We didn't have a scheduled task either, so it's not that!
Joanne Posted September 18, 2015 Author Posted September 18, 2015 I'm going here: I select update all staff and it says it will import them from SIMS, this might take a couple of minutes. All seems well. No error messages. It doesn't update them. Indeed I could manually add them, but then I'm not manually changing all the childrens records too!! Also unsure of the issue with staff signing in. It just says touch your picture and shows no photos, instead of a list of names.
RichCowell Posted September 18, 2015 Posted September 18, 2015 (edited) Have you had your SQL Server upgraded to 2014? I'd completely forgotten it would affect everything linked with SIMS, so had to faff around with it all to change the database too... We've got inVentry but we don't link with SIMS so I can't look at the settings... Edited September 18, 2015 by RichCowell
Joanne Posted September 18, 2015 Author Posted September 18, 2015 OMG yes. We had the SQL upgraded a couple of months back. Thanks for the e-mail. I've replied.

RichCowell Posted September 18, 2015 Posted September 18, 2015 If anyone's having the same issue it is because of the SQL server updates... If you're an ANME member drop me an email and I'll forward your details onto them to contact you directly...
ArranBennett Posted June 16, 2023 Posted June 16, 2023 Apologies for the necromance. Our county have just upgraded our SIMS database from 2012 to 2014. The MIS update from Inventry no longer works. Would anyone be able to point my in the right direction on how to fix? Was it something within SQL or something within Inventry that needed changing? Thank you! Arran
MYK-IT Posted June 16, 2023 Posted June 16, 2023 Try restarting the InVentry SIMS Connect API Service on your SIMS Server - I've had to do this sometimes after a SIMS update etc.
