BBWWOOOAAUUUNGGGGG

We had a 21" CRT at home that the flap in the middle under the screen to adjust the screen had broken so it was open like a mouth and when we turned it on it would make this great noise earning the nick name the beast. The desk started to bow because of its weight.

I remember CRT's being in service. This doesn't make me one of the young ones! OMG! :(

The last CRT monitor was replaced in 2013 here.

One of my schools still has a reasonable number of CRTs in use.

Wow! We are turfing out PC's including the TFT's in favour of all in ones.

my first PC was beige...

The case had a "U" shaped steel cover

The keyboard was one of them big chunky ones where the keys actually went >clickety< and were... the 5-PIN DIN Connector type ones..

The Mouse used a Serial Port

And came with a 19" CRT Monitor...

A 3.5" Floppy Disk drive

A CD-ROM drive!

and a massive 50Mb of Hard Drive space!

Back in the day the IT company I worked for were setting up new computers in the control tower of a small local airport. Had to lug a ton of 21" CRT's up 5 VERY narrow, VERY steep, VERY long sets of winding staircases. Was not fun times as the stairs were so narrow you couldn't take them up in the boxes and even then they still barely fit (and at the time these were seriously expensive bits of kit so dropping them would have been really bad). Even now a good 15-16ish(?) years that was one of the worst jobs I have had to do.
