Hi all,

We have been using office 2010 for the staff and students and now I am planning to deploy office 2013 professional plus with SP1 to one of the ICT suites and try.

Please suggest if you are using 2013 and if you encountered any problems. Staff and students use outlook client to access their emails.

Thanks

No problems so far. Manually uninstalled 2010 and then installed 2013 after reboot. You can technically run both side by side but it isn't recommended - especially with outlook.

During the install it might freeze, if it does then stop the print spooler service - it will then continue as normal.

I done a custom install and installed everything except lync. You can untick onenote if not needed, but i left it there incase someone wanted it

Our upgrade process to 2013 automatically uninstalled 2010 as part of the script (default behaviour) rebooted itself, then carried on with the rest. This worked well on 600 or so PCs. We've found 2013 to be excellent - couple of minor quirks but recommended.

If you are deploying it along with a fresh Windows 7 image make sure that you re-arm office before or after you deploy! Sysprep doesn't change the CMID so KMS sees all the machines as the same ID and doesn't activate.

We have Microsoft EES.I am deploying along with the fresh Windows7image (Students PC)

"re-arm office" does this mean I have to manuallyenter the MAK key for Office to ever PC after I join them to the domain ?

Please suggest for the students is it recommended to install OfficeProfessional Plus 2013 with SP1 OR

Office Standard 2013 with SP1

Thanks

Setup a KMS server so you don't need to type in the license keys for windows / office

We use plus rather than standard (but standard might work for you)

We have KMS in out network and it was looking after the office 2010 activation, not sure if I have to configure anything additional on the KMS for office 2013 to work without any licence key prompts.

You just need to add the kms license key for 2013

If you get any stubborn ones that don't pick up, then mak's are useful. Or for part time laptop users
