Has anyone got any suggestions for an outdoor wifi point for a home with a large garden? 2.4 and 5 Ghz preferable. Needs to be fairly straight forward to install with no controller needed.

Or the Ubiquiti Unifi Outdoor points are good. I have one of the older (2.4 only) ones at my Farm and get quite the decent coverage. Whilst you could do with installing the controller to configure the point, you don't need the controller running all the time to let it work as once configured it will just remember that. You would only need to run the controller again if you wanted to change anything (https://www.ubnt.com/unifi/unifi-ap-ac-outdoor/).

Otherwise the NanoStation are configurable on their own merits without the need for a controller and do work well as Standard APs as @Joanne said.
