JATSO Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 Hi All, I have been asked to help out install a couple of new servers over the holidays, a favour for a bit of web work that was done for me. I have installed 2008 in all my schools but as of yet have not progressed to 2012. Is there much difference? not planning to wipe the networked clients just just basically replicate the old domain. Any tips or pointers for a newbie of 2012 would be appreciated. Thanks in advance
network41 Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 Just remember when you add the role of DC on a 2012 server it will automatically upgrade the schema 1
3s-gtech Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 I'm a broken record on this point, but it's important. If licensing permits, do not use Server 2012, use 2012 R2 which is significantly updated and markedly better. 2
Davit2005 Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 Just remember when you add the role of DC on a 2012 server it will automatically upgrade the schema Threw up an error when I did this at home lab, but maybe that was because I was doing the Schemma master at the time and maybe because I was doing an inplace upgrade which I would never 99.9% do in real production environment. Ran schemma update the old fashioned way which I am used to doing and the error did not appear.
