Replacing Planet FGSW 2402RS

Hi All,

 

I have had 2 of these (http://www.planet.com.ru/en/product/images/11285/PS-FGSW2402RS.pdf) fall over recently. I have replaced them with some old switches I found in a store cupboard (An old Cisco XXX and a similarly old D-Link XXX).

 

Could you guys recommend some up to date alternatives please? If you need more info just ask

10/100Mb switches with no native SFP ports are a little "old" now, so rather than looking at the switch - what are the requirements for what the switch is doing?

 

24 ports 100Mbps with a 1Gbit fibre uplink?

 

Do you want or need any network management capabilities (eg. fully managed, web managed or just a basic switch)?

HP 1820 or alternatively Cisco 200/300 series.

 

I've seen a few of the 1810 switches in my time and never had an issue with any of them. They are not managed but I know the Cisco 300 series are managed and have recently purchased a small 10 port PoE+ for home which seems decent enough.

Depending on your budget, already mentioned above:

 

HP 1920-48G Switch (JG927A)

 

If you have a slightly bigger budget:

 

HP 2530-48G-2SFP+ Switch (J9855A)

@localzuk, Thats what I thought. 100mbps with a 1Gbit copper uplink will suffice, no fibre needed (The Planets had SFP but they weren't being used). I need 48 ports, is it better to have 2 24s or 1 48?

 

The bursar wants me to get the best value, so if a bit more expenditure gets lots more potential then we will go that way.

I think, in that case, the 1920-48G that @IanT suggested would be the ideal one then. Pretty cost effective too, especially when you consider the lifetime warranty.
