Let me guess - RM topsliced too much money to pay share dividends, as a result the service sucks and schools are let down?

but what do they care, they just bully bursars to think they can't change.

Same for me @kennysarmy.

It just took 1.5 minutes to load the esi.swgfl.org.uk calls list for my account, and 51 seconds to load the Apple homepage.

I tried to send them some timeline recordings from Chrome but the file upload field on the esi site came back with an error...

out of interest - where other sites OK whilst you had issues with these ones?

Nope, all sites were taking an age to load. Each Edugeek page 40 seconds+. Google results the same.

hmmmm - when we get slow issues sometimes it only affects SOME sites...

edugeek and flickr are often slow but BBC for example is usually OK

We had this update from the service desk this evening:-

"SWGfL Service Desk update - SWGfL proxy performance

As a result of information gathered from our monitoring system and direct customer feedback, we have identified an issue where some customers are experiencing intermittent browsing performance issues. Our engineers understand the root cause of this issue and are working to resolve it.

We are going to undertake a series of planned works, starting tonight (08/07/15) to resolve the problem.

As we progress with the work we will provide regular daily updates through email and support call updates."

If anyone finds out the "root cause" and the end date of "series of planned works" I'd be keen to know .... hopefully it will all be fixed before September....

What's weird is the randomness of it...

I am browsing fine around the BBC site but currently cannot get on flickr.com at all...

This web page is not available

ERR_TIMED_OUT

then suddenly flickr.com is all OK!!!

We been getting this for the last few weeks with the pupils. The pupils are still using proxy.swgfl.org.uk but the certificate is installed in the computer.

I'm using sslfilter . staffproxy.swgfl.org.uk and it's been useless at the best of times. Other feeds have been fine.

I did have the problem with Firefox today. Couldn't get it to connect to any https sites. I checked my certificate and I had a rm one that was out of date :/ Deleted it and it was fine.

I'm suspised that no one from swgfl or rm haven't commented yet.

Update this morning:

SWGfL proxy performance

We completed our 1st round of planned work to resolve the browsing performance issues last night and this morning. Early indications show this has had a positive impact and has helped improve performance.

Further work will be carried out tonight and tomorrow to further improve performance.

Still not right ... web pages slow to start with but once loaded the sites seem reasonably quick. Problems with Certiport where half the students had to try several times to login - managed to work eventually.

It just seems like terrible latency. Press go, wait ages, then the page arrives all at once. Like there's some guy with a STOP GO sign in the way.

You're getting a GO? You must be paying more than us then... ;-)

Yup, same here as well. I thought it was just my PC as I'm defraging exchange databases at the moment but clearly not.

Nice to see it's starting to creak with only a handful of staff back, can't wait for Tuesday...
