Jobos Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 Anyone else have problems with openhive email? Both of my schools are without email since around 1pm and Capita say no eta on the fix.
pete Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 This was in the emPSN newsletter from yesterday: Mail filtering services are being improved over the coming week as the OPENHIVE team perform software upgrades to the servers in the data centre. While this work takes place the filtering team are also adjusting the platform resilience following the migration of services to Office365. Work will take place outside normal working hours and Capita are advertising that delays might be experienced at times. Correlation <> causation, but......
Jobos Posted June 30, 2015 Author Posted June 30, 2015 Support at Capita said it's a uk wide problem so expect the brown stuff to hit the fan if it's not fixed by tomorrow morning.
GrantL Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 We have also had no e-mail through OpenHive since 1pm yesterday and there is no sign of a fix this morning. The helpdesk only open at 8am but I have already left a message. 18 hours and counting - the problem must be serious.
AIT Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 We look after large proportion of schools, and all Openhive users can send email outbound however any recipient replying or sending an email to Openhive fails with: Could not be delivered because of Mail loops back to me. 172.20.4.72. First encountered the problem around 12Noon yesterday and still issues this morning.
Chuckster Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 I just found out by the business manager that it's affecting us, too, in the Birmingham area. All inbound e-mails are being bounced backed to the senders.
Gibson335 Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 A 'server failure' is being cited as the cause by the support line tech we called...hmm, some server failure...and no failsafe?
nicholab Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 (edited) This is still ongoing I just spoken to helpdesk. Edited July 1, 2015 by nicholab
Jobos Posted July 1, 2015 Author Posted July 1, 2015 What is the address for Capita's support website that will have updates on the issue? Don't want to keep ringing them as yesterday I was in a queue for 5 minutes and I expect today will be a lot longer.
Chuckster Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 It's this: https://support.inthehive.net/default.aspx 1
Gibson335 Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 What's particularly annoying is that whatever has been done to the Microsoft server system, it's affecting all mail users, even those like us who have their own Exchange boxes.
Jobos Posted July 1, 2015 Author Posted July 1, 2015 We have on site Exchange and I'll be moving to 365 in the autumn term so that will end our ties with Capita.
GrantL Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 We have Exchange on site and cannot send or receive emails through Openhive. I spoke to the helpdesk supervisor who said that the problem was with the SMTP relay and that they are now getting 3rd party support. Feels like this one could take a while.

Sounds like they are struggling to fix the issue if they are getting 3rd party support. The service from them is really living up to their nickname.
GrantL Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 We can send e-mail now but still no receive This was at 13:42 Could not be delivered because of Failed to connect to 172.20.4.81 Failed to connect to 172.20.4.80 Socket error at Greeting - Socket error - 10054 - WSAECONNRESET.Mail loops back to me. 172.20.4.72.
Jobos Posted July 1, 2015 Author Posted July 1, 2015 I'm not getting any emails and mail marshal isn't listing any either
GrantL Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 Hmm, I can send email but also not showing in Mail Marshall. I wonder how they have got the outgoing e-mail to go around Mail Marshall and if they can do the same for incoming?
Jobos Posted July 1, 2015 Author Posted July 1, 2015 Of course I could be wrong but I don't think it's working!
GrantL Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 (edited) HMail Marshall has been logging mail since about 10:3:0pm last nightbut most are "temporarily undeliverable". Does anyone have any more information? Edited July 2, 2015 by GrantL Update
Chuckster Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 In school, we're able to send e-mails internally but externally we're not able to. Very frustrating when SMT think it's your fault and insist I bring in a consultant or an external company to fix it. FIX WHAT?! Problem's with Crapita! Do I just send whomever to their offices and have them bill the school accordingly for wasting their time?
GrantL Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 I feel your pain. I am hearing that the problem has been mostly resolved but they are battling to deal with the backlog of e-mail and are monitoring the situation.
Chuckster Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 Yeah, I can imagine. Sadly technology is one of those things where you can never guarantee more than 99.99% uptime.
