The amount of marketing that went into this show means it has to be good... doesn't it ;)

They rolled the advert without explaining that it was a new television show, this resulted in loads of people Googling the company looking to order one of the new "robots" which then led them to this website

Persona Synthetics

Here's the advert for anyone who wants to see it

They even built up a store in London as if they where really going to start selling these things

Here's a series preview (Slightly NSFW)

It comes out this Sunday! Hoping that it's as good as the hype makes out :)

Let me know when the complete series is available to stream or download. Do Channel 4 do silly 30 day limits for programs added to 4OD? I cancelled my Sky Now subscription because they do that, you see something interesting and the first episode is no longer available. I want to binge watch dammit!

(sorry that turned into a mini-rant - meant to say, this looks interesting).

I think they do keep it on there for a long time, I know that you can watch inbetweeners on there series 1-3 still.

It's a tamed down version of the Swedish series Real Humans.

Just looked that up, that looks good. Shame I can't speak Swedish :(

That's interesting I might try and find that! I watched the original The Bridge and The Killing that way. Better productions, even with the subtitles.

From what I understand, for the Swedish version actions speak louder than words if you know what I mean, which is why it's been re-made and toned down for the US/UK version.

The DVD version doesn't have english subtitles apparently, although there seems to be some subtitles you can download.

Got to be worth a try, can't say I like the idea of my TV being toned down ;)

I thought it was OK. There's potential certainly.

Seems to be by the same people who made Utopia - very similar style and score. [still bitter they cut that]

Quite liked it. Put me in mind of Black Mirror in the way it's playing the technology as just another part of life that everyone is used to and everyone still acts the same, they've just adapted to the miracle of technology and made it every day (much like we have with smartphones--I mean, they are quite literally the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, they are a window onto all the world's knowledge, and all we do is play stupid games and complain about their battery life).

I liked the way they hint at the implications of robot labour, and quite what we'd all do in a post-work society--as the angry teenage daughter said at one point, "so we're all just supposed to be poets now or something?" Her reaction to the pointless nature of a good education in a world without employment prospects was good as well.

Not quite up there with Orphan Black for entertainment, not yet, but it's a promising start :)

The issue I have with this - and many other programs, is that they end on a cliffhanger - in this case Anita taking the little girl - and then the clips for the next episode show quite clearly that the little girl is back with her family and fine.

What is the point ? It ruins the suspense which presumably the program makers carefully set up.
