That ride has really gotten itself a bad rep now. It's like a year or so old and has made the headlines due to its ongoing technically glitches many times now.

Had quite a few incidents within the 2 years it's been there. Kinda like tech in a way, if it's a world first, you're gonna have a bad time.

Oh the X-sector Zone, so if they have moved everyone out of that part of the park that's one of the big draws out of action then.

And there is me going to Thorpe Park soon.

 

Strangely enough, the ride breaking is my dumb joke I tend to pull with the family... usually when we are on it...

One of the victims has had her leg amputated just above the knee. :(

 

This is truly horrific and I feel for the woman but on the news this morning they read her statement out from her solicitors.... I do wonder if they just hang around hospital wards looking for work.

They pretty much do, along with pulling details out of the public record or Motor Insurance Database looking for accident claims. My mother was asked by one parasite if she wanted to sue the driver of a car she had an accident in....the driver being my father whom she is married to! They got a right earful for trying that one.

If I was her and I'd had the rest of my life affected because of corporate ignorance, I'd be wanting millions.

Actually, this is standard procedure in order to recoup medical costs or ongoing costs.

After all, he has insurance to cover it and it isn't as if it will be a criminal conviction.

Not saying she doesn't deserve it.. more of a generalisation into the world today.. there is no such thing as a accident anymore.

Aside from 1) The other driver is the one at fault and 2) They have been happily married for over 30 years!

'Human error' caused Alton Towers crash - BBC News

 

Human error caused the Alton Towers rollercoaster crash in June that seriously injured five people, the Staffordshire theme park said.

Two women needed leg amputations after the Smiler ride crashed into an empty carriage in front of it on 2 June.

The safety control system was manually overridden without the proper protocols being followed, an investigation concluded.

No technical or mechanical issues were found with the ride itself.

 

Well then.. Someone's head will be on the chopping block for that, I reckon..

It's not that I don't feel so sorry for the people injured in this, but I'm really sick of hearing about it now. I'm not really sure what they're after. They've had money, they now have admission as to blame yet this won't be the last to be fair I'm sure. People have accidents and loose limbs I'd imagine daily, I don't get what they're gaining by running to the press all the time.

I don't think this is about the victims. It's the end of the health and safety investigation process and that took time.

 

The point is that Merlin has to accept corporate blame and can't just say it was the fault of individual employees that were on duty that day. The organisation has to ensure that it trains staff appropriately and doesn't let its need for profit exceed the need for safety in its operations.

 

Until the case concluded there was no way the press would drop this.
