bert113 Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 Hi, I've come in this morning after a week off to discover that the contents of our "S" drive has been deleted. (containing connect.ini etc..) I've managed to recover the majority of our files but they've lost their folder structure. I've recovered the connect.ini etc... Could anyone possibly send me a screenshot of the folder\file structure within all of your sims folders, anything you can think of, even down to the menubat and snova folders - any help would be really appreciated. I'm waiting to hear back from our SIMS support to get an up to date version of the SIMS setups folders, but if anyone can dump a copy somewhere on dropbox or somewhere it would again be really appreciated (we are on v7.162) If you haven't guessed the SIMS S: drive backup failed (!) although the database is fine. superfletch Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 (edited) This is probably going to differ from school to school and also differ between schools in different LAs. SIMS doesn't necessarily rely on an S drive (or any particular drive mapping) to actually work so it's more a case of what files you were storing there to enable shared access for the schools SIMS users. You're likely to have had folders relating to CTF's, Census returns, Exams and so on, maybe also template documents for things like attendance letters. Hopefully you haven't lost the DocStorage folders for the SIMS document Server. Bit of a bummer, but not the end of the world hope you can recover it. Edited June 1, 2015 by superfletch 1

It's probably legacy folders from previous installations. As requested - setups folder (sorted by type - sorry!): [sNIP UPGRADE ZIPS] 1

I could also do with the contents of the Options folder, along with file extensions ( so I can transfer the files back into the folder) I've got NovaT6 working can see all of the files when I open it but they won't load (I can't save either) - problem with an access violation with NT6.exe. I've asked our local LA support, just wondered if anyone has come across this. Thanks again.
dapaulio Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 I didnt think SIMS relied on the S: other than for shared files. I don't know whether this would help you or whether you have actually done this already but can you not install Sims server installation on a test machine and copy the newly created simsroot files in to you live s: environment. it will just then be a matter of recovering certain files as the end users report any issues which I cannot see being that many. At least your s: will be nice and tidy again

I've recovered the connect.ini etc..." --> when you say that..... how? i.e. are you saying you've done some NTFSUndelete type thing (i.e. recovered files could be corrupt in some cases?)
