Hi Guys,

I am trying to work out how much it costs per print for our average colour and laser printers. What do people set their charges per print at in Papercut etc?

Sorry, I know this is vague but I am trying to put together a cost savings to present to SLT for reasons to move to follow me printing and leased MFD's.

Thanks in advance

You're better off working it out for yourself. Each consumable will give an approximate yield. Just make sure you've accounted for all the consumables (Drum, Fixer, Waste toner bottle, everything), work out the cost per sheet for each one and add them up. Some printers also have a maintenance cycle at say 100K sheets, make an allowance for that too.

Then because the published yield can be a bit optimistic. I tend to work on 75% yield compared to what that manufacturer says.

Thanks @kennysarmy -- I have Brother HL printers at the moment so they cost significantly more per print but I can't find anywhere on the net that gives me the figures per print.

I put what we charge as it's the only figures we have - but we price to try and reduce the amount of colour and also we contra-charge departments anything they print.

The follow me printing was so successful taking over from having cheap usb lasers in classrooms/offices that our printing load has tripled and as such is costing us slightly more that before.

We don't actually charge the users or departments - printing costs are a central admin thing.
