abillybob Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 I have a friend that I went to college with and he works for a solicitor firm, earns 84k a year and is the same age as me.... oh did I mention he's also just been given a company car. Just to add he's not a solicitor he sorts out their IT stuffs like me and you *Grumble Grumble* In education though yes I think 52k is a very decent wage.

Some of it is a bit gimmicky yes but I've answered a call with it, sent texts and kept up to date with my diary, favorite'd a tweet. So far I can see some really interesting potential. Luckily my wife has one too, so I can play with the inter watch heartbeat, images and the like straight away. Feels weighty enough to be solid, but not huge and too heavy. Garacesh Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 (edited) I like the Razer Nabu, but purely because of their selling point - they want to take the focus away from mobile phones and handheld devices because it ruins social interaction if you're constantly have your phone out. I'd much rather have a small wristband that tells me the time and then discreetly tells me any notifications I have. I would use that.. And at only fifty quid I may just have to take a look into it. I don't need an e-watch that answers calls or can be used to browse the web etc.. Those functions are pointless to me. Any kind of actual consumption or communication I would prefer to be done on a larger screen. But I'm a sucker for leaving my phone on the other side of the room and not hearing it when it goes off.. LeMarchand Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 What I think the market needs now is a device that can do all, a phone that can be a tablet and a full fledged computer (maybe laser keyboard and separate OS install like Windows) keep it all on one device, slims down the amount of carp you need to carry. It is possible and I'd much rather buy this kind of device than adding more to worry about, technology is supposed to simplify your life and experience not make it more awkward with multiple devices and charging multiple devices etc.... An Intel Atom phone that now runs android with 4GB RAM 128GB Storage would be more than capable of doing everything in one device.... I may have a business plan here, watch this space There have been phones that slot into tablet or laptop factors, but they've not taken off. (Probably because they were often more expensive than buying the 2 items separately!). There was this: Inside the i-mate Intelegent, the audacious phone that runs Windows 8 | PCWorld but it never seemed to get made. I totally agree that it should be possible to run full W10 on a phone, but I guess MS can make more money by keeping a slightly different OS for phones.

Apple’s patent application is for a method that allows them to make 18k gold that has, on a volume basis, less gold than regular 18k gold. How can this be? Instead of mixing the gold with silver, copper, or other metals to make it harder, Apple is mixing it with low-density ceramic particles. Still,the apple fans will line up to have their pockets emptied! I'll stick to my nice quality Citizen watch, which looks great and never needs a battery. For everything else I leave my phone in my pocket, which for me is never too much of a chore to get out!

There are a few differences*, but the main part of the Apple Watch is identical for all editions including the super expensive £8,000-£12,000 "Edition" editions. I think that's the point though. * Obvious things like what the case, crown, display, bands, buckles and pins are made of.
