browolf Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 I got it delivered at work yesterday. Practically ran home after. But then it took 3 hours to install and was still doing the update when i went to bed :'-( 15mins left to do....
Patrick Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 I had the same experience. I bought it as I knew downloading it would take an age and wanted to get playing quickly. 6 DVDs later and a lengthy install time I though right, lets go! No...Few huge patches and download speeds that would flux between 2Mbs and 17.6KBPS(!!). Even though I bought a physical copy on release day it still took over a day to get it going. Running now and loving it! Never played it on a console.
edutech4schools Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 Is it possible to backup the graphics settings I have picked? I have a GTX 970 G1 and I used the Nvidia GeForce Experience to pick the optimal settings except it was slightly lagging, the only way to describe it is like an elastic band, the frames were speeding up and slowing down. I spent some time manually tweaking and have found the Nvidia GeForce Experience picks some very odd settings. A few of the settings that don't really add to the video memory are turned down and some settings that don't make much difference but put a strain on the graphics card have been turned up. My advice would be don't bother using Nvidia's GTA experience settings.
localzuk Posted April 26, 2015 Posted April 26, 2015 Yeah, both the nvidia tool and the tool in raptr are pretty poor. They both pushed down texture quality settings and pushed up anti-aliasing for me, which when too high just makes it crash on my machine. Best way of doing it I found? Manually. Tweak until the memory bar fills up and the game is stable. Don't know about exporting those settings though.

I think they're stored in C:\Users\$NAME\Documents\Rockstar Games\GTA V\settings.xml Looks to be all graphical settings, rather than user preferences.
CAM Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 I spent $200k doing up an utterly horrific looking Panto. It's in my Steam screenshots (can't access here).
abillybob Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 Got it running at 4k at home looks beautiful! Though had to turn all my graphics settings down to get decent frame rates 1080p on 4k display though I've found looks dreadful.
jaminben Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 Got it running at 4k at home looks beautiful! What 4k screen have you got?
abillybob Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 What 4k screen have you got? Sony Bravia KD49X8505BBU. Very good panel, only issue is that it's Smart TV feature doesn't come with ITV and 4od. I've fixed this with a Roku Streaming Stick though.
jaminben Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 Very nice... tempted to upgrade but not 100% fixed on a model yet. Any issues with lag?
JRowley Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 I spent $200k doing up an utterly horrific looking Panto. It's in my Steam screenshots (can't access here). I've done exactly the same, me and my friends are thinking of setting up a Panto racing league because they are incredibly funny to drive.
localzuk Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 I prefer the Issi (mini clone). Great fun to drive.
abillybob Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 Very nice... tempted to upgrade but not 100% fixed on a model yet. Any issues with lag? Well strange one, because my GPU is a GTX 770 it can only output at 30Hz or something like that because it only has a 1.4 HDMI out port where as the new GTX card 9xx series have HDMI 2.0 so they're better. Though I haven't had any problem with lag it all runs very smoothly. Though on the desktop when moving your cursor it seems to stutter a bit but I think that's to do with it being a HDMI 1.4 port on my GPU so you notice the difference between 30Hz and 60Hz. I'm not going to buy the 9xx Series going to wait a bit longer until the next models come out me thinks.

CAM Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 Did my Prison Break heist, 200k in the bank to make up for the Panto. Also got the hang of flying, it's quite fun. If you exclude panicking in the heist when the fighters locked on and doing a loop straight into the floor....
Domo Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 so got paid today and bought it this morning before work, hopefully it will be downloaded when i get home. you know unless my cousin touches my computer and cancels/pauses the download... I really hope it's as good as you all are saying

You're not allowed to get the hang of flying, I'm the designated pilot I still need to finish Prison Break, we got to the plane handover where you bail, but MatRa DC'd
CAM Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 Haha he told us that one last night. How many attempts did it take? We did it in 2 with me, Mat, Veran and Monz.

I really hope it's as good as you all are saying It's a good game, worth the money if we put it that way.. I haven't played in a few days, I'm on the last heist but me and my friends have all kinda got bored. That doesn't mean I won't play it again though, I kept playing San Andreas up until a few months ago!

I think I took off about 5/6 times? We had a few DC's, some deaths.. I don't remember who else was with me, I know Veran was in the sky with me, I think Mat was in the prison with Project? It was one of the quiet ones
Domo Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 Got on for the first time last night and imported my character over from xbox 360, me and three friends decided to do the "prison break" Heist as i hadn't done any of the heists before. It was quite fun setting up the Heist, especially when i had to snipe a man carrying a briefcase and then get down off the builing (my character didn't use the ladder...) In the actual heist i was given the task of flying the plane. I picked up the controls with the keyboard pretty quickly but we failed first time because as i landed someone ran into my propellors xD Second time we managed to ge to the drop zone and we all jumped out, aaaaaaand i didn't know how to pull my parachute. hit the water, died, restarted heist... oops :3 I'm dissapointed in the Jets in this heist though.... you can just fly behind them and they don't even attempt to shoot you... xD
CAM Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 Have to admit, the bugs and design choices are starting to get to me now. 1) The loading times are horrendous and quite frankly unacceptable. And if you shift-tab because you are bored of waiting and want to potter around guides on the overlay, it will sit there in an infinite loading loop with no hint it has broken and won't let you in. Even in SP this happens. 2) Balancing is a mess. Guy tries to blow me up with sticky, I make the conscious decision not to blow up the car, I shoot at the driver, bullets hit sticky, car go boom, I get punished. Armoured Kurumas are also a nightmare, someone tries to chase you and you have to muck around setting a bounty before he kills you. Only then can you blow the vehicle up. Headshots are also pretty overpowered. 3) In-between missions is a total mess. Lobbies often bug out, get stuck, leave players in a weird limbo because one person failed to load. One lobby it was filled with randoms kicking out friends who were playing. 4) Weird design choices. I want a HGV or truck, why can't I store it in my garage instead of paying Pegasus $200 and have to drive all the way to a depot? Why can't I set my default drive-by weapon to AP Pistol instead of scrolling past every weapon (can't even scroll backwards) as it insists on Mini-Uzi? Also no parity between my preferred first-person and third-person, it was a hacked in gimmick. Also no level lock or kill progress rewards on DLC weapons. Why??? GTA Online has become a bit of a mess and after an extended time playing the game, a number of shocking and appalling QA issues are cropping up that never should have happened and are still in place after two years.
localzuk Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 Finished the single player main storyline over the weekend. Loved it. Only just logged in to Online and ran through 3 or 4 of the initial missions it forces you into. We'll see if I actually like the online game. Not been a huge fan of "having to play with friends" type games so far.
