Grand Theft Auto V

Well I gotta say my first impressions of this most highly anticipated and long overdue game are not disappointing in the least... this is the GTA we've been waiting for! (OK so the PeeCee faithful have been waiting so much longer). I still keep pinching myself to check I'm not dreaming and this incarnation of GTA has both the look and feel of a dream (or nightmare depending on your perspective). Granted many have played it to death on the consoles already, but what are your first impressions of GTA V PC, how does it compare to the next gen console versions? What are your favourite cars, places to buy, missions, ways to make money, haircuts, tips 'n tricks? I'm looking forward to seeing some movies put together in the new Rockstar Editor (what's that all about?) and meeting up for some online action. "It's genetically superior baby" and it's PeeCee! Game on!

Absolutely maxed out settings and it runs beautifully (AND you don't need a Titan etc either!).

 

Heists are hilarious and enjoyable.

 

Graphics are good, nothing too groundbreaking but it's definitely a pretty game.

 

Haven't tried the editor yet but I wish I did (I was trying to parachute onto a train with my friend, after around 2/3 minutes of careful hovering above it - I hit a bloody metal sign and died).

As a first time player of this beauty, I don't really have the tips and tricks.

 

But I can say that even on my older setup it works wonderfully on high. Again a case of my little AMD GPU just chugging along, even though it's almost dead. I can't wait to finally get online with a group of people and cause absolute carnage. It's going to be very interesting to see a bunch of us online on a server causing all kinds of trouble.

 

Though I did have a funny moment online yesterday when I was first logging in... I went to the store for a packet of smokes so I could stand by my (stolen) car and have a nice smoke... when my friend says "If you point your gun at the bloke behind the register you can rob him". Me being unfamiliar with the controls resulted in me pulling up a shotgun and blasting the poor soul in the chest. His ragdoll flew away leaving me in a state of genuine panic. I frantically emptied the cash register and was promptly shot by the responding police forces.

I can see that I have only just scratched the surface, played to till gone midnight then forced myself to go to bed as it's a school night. I'm definitely looking forward to getting involved in some online shenanigans. IGN = K i t a l o n (feel free to add me on Steam too)

Now this I know, but I only had one shell. This single shell just so happened to reside in the poor cashiers chest. Meaning I ran out into what must've been at least 20 Police Officers flailing my arms around trying to knock as many down as possible whilst still making an escape.

It kinda annoys me how hard it is to kill police/people in general.. if you don't shoot them in the head they're guaranteed to get back up

Yep, a headshot is always the way forward. I spent some time in AmmoNation and got gold medals in all of the gun training which resulted in 25% off all arms in store. that can't be a bad thing.

I can't believe just how well polished this game is, i was playing last night, decided to ramp up the graphics settings to maximum (albeit only 1080p) and hope for the best...and it runs like an absolute dream! a few days ago i was looking at the possibility of going SLI 780s as they can be had quite cheap second hand now, but now i see that there's absolutely no need!

 

Playing online so far has been fun, but when you join a race or a deathmatch thing it takes agggges to actually get going, apart from that little niggle it's great fun and i can't wait to get together with mates and start rampaging through the mean streets haha.

Got it on Xbox 360 and loved it, but never really got into online on my xbox, but looking at buying it when the price comes down a bit or there is a sale etc.

 

But I thought this was quite funny

Also have a teamspeak server we can use if needs be. I love that i dont have a top spec system. CPU - AMD - 6100 and a GTX 750 2GB and runs soo smoothly. I have noticed it does like its ram. I use 6-7GB.

It's safe to say those delays and the extra time spent developing was well worth it. I'm much happier for having waited, than if i'd have had some watch dogs esque lagathon to play.

Do the first heist as soon as you can. It's only two player but quick to do and unlocks the Kuruma which you can use the earnings from the heist to buy. Stock is about 90k, the armoured variant 500k (but worth it). Both very very fast cars.

I should be doing the first Heist either tonight or Friday. Can't wait, though I've still been saving to get my first house (which I believe is a requirement to starting the Heists) since I managed to miss out on the starting dollars for pre-ordering :c

 

I'll definitely be pottering about tonight though if there's any other lowbies out there wanting to do some of the /easier/ missions to make some cash. You'll also get to see my beautiful car... it's my one prized possession.

if its owt like the xbox one heists are a right pain just getting into one is painful and then someone quits and you have to start again

Heists aren't suitable for pick-up groups, best done with friends. Hosting a pick-up is worse, you will lose money from the demands for equal finale cut.

Did a 4-person prison break heist with friends last night, BEST THING EVER. So many different parts and people each have their own important roles. Also finished the flight school (all gold, so I got like 200k from it) which means I'm using a heli for all my missions now.

I was one of the guys dressed like a cop in one part, when it came to leaving the police station i walked straight into another cop and pushed him over and they all started shooting me....that's no way to treat a colleague.
