Buckingham palace are looking for a techie (aka system support officer)

 

As a Systems Support Officer, you will provide friendly and professional support to all users. You will log enquiries, undertake research work to diagnose faults and decide how to best resolve each problem.

You will help to ensure the smooth operation of the Royal Household's computer systems by logging and maintaining a full and accurate record of calls to the IT Helpdesk. From administering user accounts for new employees to undertaking project roll out and installation support duties, your daily responsibilities will have an impact throughout the organisation.

In a role which will expand your knowledge daily, you will have the opportunity to develop your experience of working in a customer focused role and will help promote good standards of IT practice across The Royal Household.

 

With excellent customer service and communication skills, you will be able to explain technical problems in an accessible way to users of varying IT literacy.

You will have a good knowledge of computer components and terminology and also be able to demonstrate a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office 2013 applications and Microsoft Windows 7.

With an analytical mind, you will enjoy problem solving and handling user enquiries on a daily basis.

You may hold a technical qualification (MCP or equivalent) in IT technical support.

The Royal Household Systems Support team is responsible for providing exceptional customer service and desktop support to approximately 1,700 users.

As a Systems Support Supervisor you will be responsible for supervising a team of System Support Officers, providing the highest levels of support to IT service users across all Royal Households.

You will be problem solving on a day-to-day basis, using your knowledge of IT computer programs and equipment to guide the support team and resolve escalated queries, ensuring that all technical queries are dealt with in an effective and timely manner.

Playing a fundamental role in the supervision of the Systems Support Officers, you will organise staff rotas, review weekly statistics and invest in the ongoing performance and development of the team.

In this full and challenging role you will ensure user satisfaction throughout the Royal Household's user community.

 

 

With significant experience of working in a fast-paced IT Helpdesk environment using a computerised call-logging system, you will have a methodical and accurate approach to problem solving.

You will hold a degree in a technical discipline and will be able to demonstrate good knowledge of computer hardware maintenance and terminology, with a working understanding of the MS Office suite and Windows 7.

With previous supervisory experience, you will be confident in providing daily support and guidance to those within your team.

With your exceptional customer service and communication skills, you will have the ability to explain technical problems to users at all levels of ability, and maintain excellent relationships with a number of key senior figures within the organisation.

The royal house hold generally pay badly. Looking at the adverts I have seen they should sign up to paying a living wage. Edited by nicholab

I'd definitely go for it if I lived in London that is. Think about it for your career. How many other candidates going for a job can say you've worked on behalf of Buckingham palace.
