IT Budget 2015 - What's your big spend?

We have had all of our requests turned down due to budgets so far... (SAN/Virtulize our existing servers, increase wireless coverage,replacement plan for computer/server stock, managed print). Current servers all out of warranty with no appetite to replace anytime soon, very low storage space etc.

 

Still expected to save as much money as possible (printing, licenses etc), all while other departments regularly are allowed pretty much what they like.

 

If we can convince SMT/Govners our biggest expense will hopefully be infrastructure (Servers/SAN). Smoothwall in due to us making large savings in switching broadband suppliers.

After being told my budget is around £1000 to cover IT / network support / AV requirements for an entire school including consumables / toner / paper etc.

 

Major plans out the window.

Following on from yesterdays main UK budget announcement it's about time we asked what it is you have got your sights on for this years big spend?

Please fill out the poll and we'll see what this years purchaing trend is.

 

I'd have thought that in this day and age there shouldn't really be a trend. It's over a decade since BECTA guidance first was published on how to manage IT budgets in schools, so we all have rolling replacement programmes over a 3,5 and 10 year cycles with a consistent annual spend, right ?

Thing is - so do I. Toner expenditure last year was about £2k - even with using cheaper remanufactured toner cartridges.

 

I've thankfully sorted licenses out for a bit but will have a few coming out towards end of budget year.

 

Hoping it's reconsidered otherwise I'm stuffed!
