Flash MSI not taking on all workstations

Hi everyone

 

I have a weird issue that's been on-going for many months now relating to Flash installations. Whenever a new version is released I'll download the MSI distributable and deploy it through Group Policy, removing the old package and adding the new MSI within Software Installations.

 

For around 95% of the machines the package takes with no issues, but we have a handful of computers in certain rooms that never install the new MSI. If I go to an affected workstation and check the logs there are no errors, and if I run a GPUPDATE on the machine and restart it, it still won't see the new package. In the end I just have to uninstall the old version and put the new one on manually. It's very frustrating. Interestingly, other MSI's will install fine on these machines, so I know it's nothing to do with their setup.

 

Has anyone else had this kind of issue with Flash?

Once you've installed it manually surely it then won't be able to remove that version and do a new install via the MSI...

 

Have you tried uninstalling the old version, removing the PC from the domain, re-joining - does it pick up the FLASH and all the other GPO's?

 

I presume the FLASH GPO is set to uninstall when it's out of the scope?

Have you tried, rather than removing the previous version, setting the new one to 'upgrade a previous package' in the GPO?
