Anyone recommend me a good cable stapler that can cope with network cabling? I have seen quite a few on various sites but want to go with one tried and tested by fellow edugeeks.

I use a bog standard one from the local hardware place but to be honest I view cable stapling as a very temporary measure. They'll only stay up for a while!

I would avoid stapling network cables.

cable tray and velcro ties are the way to deal with lots of cables, single cables need to be put in mini trunking. If mini trunking can't be fitted due to space constraints, use plastic nail-in cable clips of the right size.

It's not worth the grief.

We've got a bog standard one that we got from Videk years ago (along with 2 packs of staples)

We use it every now and then if we have to run a single cable a short distance and there isn't the room for trunking.

Must of the time we use the stapler as a loop for cable ties, again for areas where trunking is not able to go easily.

Ironically we find that the staples are less likely to come out that the nail-in clips but that's likely just out users.

I should have clarified, its for occasional use at home. I want to run a network cable along the skirting but i've been told its a big no-no for cable clips. Mrs doesn't like them! Also need to run a telephone wire.

Try and get it in the edge between the carpet and the skirting board or run some half round mini trunking along the top edge or even the carpet edge.

I was talking to the alarm engineer about domestic installs and he uses a router (the woodwork kind) to make a grove in the floorboard, puts the cable in then tapes over the top. I know cat5 is thicker than alarm cable but worth bearing in mind.

Solid floor, no floorboards to make a groove in. Also if there were it would mean lifting fitted carpet, mrs would not be happy!
