Using SQL IDs was an absolute no no so we have passed authentication over to the big Internet players who have advanced intrusion detection systems in place etc.; in my view a sensible decision. What is so undesirable about using a "personal account" to link the device to SIMS - the administrator can disable a device instantly. Only a single device is authorised. Absolutely no negative feedback has reached me from the schools that have been using Teacher App for the last 6 months over this way of signing in. It is certainly disappointing that we were unable to resolve the O365 issues before release but that wasn't for the want of trying. However following feedback on this thread we will look at allowing the administrator to restrict IDs to one or more domains. I think that is a fairly minor change to make. Only a small minority of schools across the country have implemented Active Directory? Are you sure this is what you meant to say @PhilNeal ? Or do you mean Azure AD? What about those users who have bizarre email addresses? What about if a kid sees a teacher sign in to the app and then gets their personal email address which is not monitored like school email addresses are? - - - Updated - - - Ummmmm... Really? How does that work in terms of logging in? Does the app remain logged in until somebody signs out? If you were signed out you'd need to authenticate against one of these third party authentication systems which would need the internet? Apologies if this is answered elsewhere.

vikpaw Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 The way I had it explained for a trip was that every morning you would go online and sync then go offline for 8 hours. Which would be painful enough and possibly expensive, but not too unreasonable. When offline, the pin will protect the app, so you don't have to keep logging in. It's similar in Emerge except the offline feature is way more elaborate and useful. 1

You have the ability to make a real difference, to force the rollout of AzureAD\ADFS (which has the nice side feature of coming with Office 365, for FREE). Failed opportunity personally. Anyway, lets hope none of those ~80,000 free accounts gets hacked - hopefully everyone has filled in all the extra security bits (mobile number etc). It's similar in Emerge except the offline feature is way more elaborate and useful. Sorry, did you just say the TeacherApp is better? And Graham liked it?

And Graham liked it? Let's clarify lest I remove my thanks... :-D No, i meant that Emerge offline features are better! For example you can configure offline Time To Live on a per user basis. I'm not sure how conflict resolution will work in the TeacherApp, say if an online user does a register and so does an offline app.
