I've been asked to look into a system to allow staff to log all communication with parents, so if they make a phone call they can go on the system and log it against the students record so other teachers can see what contact has been made with the parents.

SIMS has a built in communication log but it's rubbish as you can't easily tell which member of staff entered the communication log, and when selecting parents if there are 2 with the same name it's impossible to tell which is the correct one.

I'm going to be having a look at PARS soon but that's a rather large system for just one feature. Do any of you log communication home and if so how?

We've just setup something similar with a folder for each student on a shared drive and Pastoral are going to scan and upload all communication / doctors notes, Ed Psych letters etc to each student user folder.

We've got a program on a word document that will probably used by the Head of Year to log parent meetings, phone calls, e-mails etc.

Although, a system designed for such task would be better suited, I looked at couldn't find anything.

We do this in SIMS but not in the communication log. We use the behaviour and achievement section. We setup up a few zero point categories for the staff to log different types of information.
