Aerohive and Meraki feedback needed

Hi

 

We are currently trialling Aerohive AP230 and Meraki MR32 wireless access points with a view to replacing our existing system and at the same time expanding our coverage.

 

After a considerable amount of testing we do not have a clear winner and we are looking for feedback from anyone who is currently running one of these brands of WAP.

 

In particular we are looking to know of any issues or problem you have encountered.

Can't comment on Meraki but the handful of Aerohive AP230s we have here have been very good. Good spec, signal and the APs are also perfectly capable of doubling up as a PPSK server if needed.

Have you thought about throwing Ruckus into the mix as well for comparison?

 

At least this way you will have a clear winner with your tests

+1 Aerohive, been using for over 2 years with no problems at all once configured, contact a company called LAN3 and they will do full heat analysis of your school and run tests prior to quoting, they will then install and configure to your strategic plans and away you go, support was excellent having only used it once, down to my lack on knowledge on updating the AP's which was child's play once shown. Training is also free for one person for 2 days at their place.

Don't have any MR32s but have been running a Meraki wifi setup here for sixth months and been very impressed with the performance, as well as the ease of management.

I've not used Aerohive but we did trial Ruckus and Meraki and went with Meraki in the end and I'm so glad I did. Its perfect if you have multiple sites to manage like I do. The single pane of glass management is so easy and everything is quick and easy to find.

The signal is great and the hand off when roaming between APs is seamless. The language Meraki uses to describe what things do is very simple and easy to understand even a non technical person could configure and manage it.

 

If money wasn't an issue I'd love to have an entire meraki network, i.e. switches and firewalls too.

In the same boat as you pgrant. They are both great products. I started to list a few differences below... have you seen any others that stick out? Listing these might help us determine which is best for our user base.
